It's getting close to that time of year where your house smells wonderful from all the holiday baking. So I was wondering what will you be baking this year? Do you make something that the entire family loves and would be seriously ticked off if you didn't show up with it? Are you trying anything new out this year?

I'm known for my cheesecakes and pumpkin rolls. So it's mandatory that I show up with one or the other at the family gatherings. But I also make lots of homemade candy and fudge for Christmas gifts. This year I'm also going to be attempting to make truffles. My mom made some last year that melted in your mouth. They were wonderful, so I'm gonna attempt to make them this year.

i do the same thing sheryl lotsa candy making and cookie galore. it's a tradition. i love to cook..... and it makes the house smell wonderful.

I think me and kids are gonna make gingerbread men this year.

I'll make my streudel, which is always expected from me.

The kitchens smells of apples, cinnamon and sugar, lemon . . . which is especially great if it's a snowy and cold day

mmmmmmmmm I love struedal, but have no idea how to make it.

I got a Kentucky Derby cookbook from Mrs McNasty while I was at her house last week and I found a Makers Mark Raisin loaf I am going to try.

Oh wow does that cookbook have a recipe for the porkchops they make at derby?? I've never been, but watched a special bout it's food on tv and the porkchops looked mouthwatering!

gosh, I'm lazy....if we do eat at home then I usually just buy an apple and/or pumpkin pie from the store.

A few years ago my little bro called to invite DH and I to Thanksgiving

dinner at his house. We chatted a bit, and then it started. "Oh by the

way, could you bring the turkey?" Sure. Chat... "Oh by the way could

you bring your pumpkin pies?" Sure. Chat... "Oh by the way could you

come early and help (his wife at the time) with the table decorations?"

:wah:



My Dad brought his "famous" shrimp salad and mashed the potatoes so

I don't think my former sis-in-law ended up doing anything.



I even drove up a couple days before (hour drive) and brought my Weber

to cook the turkey in!!



Ah, holiday memories aren't they great?

yummy! I can smell it all already! mmmmmmm...mouthwatering! drool

I promised my daughter we'd string popcorn up this year ~ american style ~ and we want to make some gingerbread people and use them as decorations too.

Any recipes folks?
