Skakel Shut Down

The Supreme Court on Monday let stand the murder conviction of Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel, who is serving a prison term of at least 20 years for the beating death of a teenage girl in 1975.

It's quite interesting to me that there's a time limit on this sort of prosecution

- in the Yook, if you did someone in and you're still alive, you're going to be

"done" for it, if evidence comes up. It seems quite fair that this appeal has

been denied, but there seems to be another one in the offing:

"Separately, Skakel is seeking a new trial based on a claim by a former

schoolmate that two of his friends may have killed Moxley. But the man,

Gitano "Tony" Bryant, has since refused to testify at upcoming hearings."

Well, that seems to point to new evidence. Hopefully Mr. Bryant will be made

to speak.

Excellent. I truly believe he is guilty. And the cover up by his family all these years is sickening.

there is NO statute of limitations on murder here. it was only brought into question because skakel was a juvenile at the time of the murder and his defense tried to say that if he had been convicted as a juvie he'd be free. didn't meet the smell test.

I am glad he lost the appeal.

As a personal aside, and maybe I am just being petty here...but I have a bit of an issue with the "Kennedy cousin" tag. I mean, he has no blood ties to the Kennedys at all. He is a "cousin" to Robert Kennedy's children only, as he is from Ethel's side of the family.

OK, rant over.

Fuhrman wrote a book on the case, which had a lot to do with it finally being pursued in court.

i understand your feelings, however it wasn't fuhrman that convicted him, the evidence did.

mark fuhrman was a total scapegoat and red herring in the oj trial. did he say stupid things? yes! he had no choice in court than to take the 5th. i don't know a cop on earth that hasn't made statements that wouldn't be considered PC. but the guy was a brilliant detective. and there is no way in hell he planted that glove. i'll never believe that for a second. as for skakel, all fuhrman did was resurrect a cold case, and Martha's mother is very grateful to him. finally she had some modicum of justice.
