looking in the mirror

We are all influenced by our parents, environment, upbringing, culture, birth place, friends, work, social status, family etc.....

Despite what some of us might think about ourselves, none of us are "perfect or flawless"

We can't ever be right about everything, that is how opinions happen. We may within ourselves think differently but we know others are not always going to agree with us.

So why

do some people always have to think they are right -to the death?

do people make statements about what they dislike in others, yet from an outsider they are very much like that person?

do some people not stop and take the time to really and truly take a long hard look at themselves and see who they are?

??How does someone tell another they need to take that look in the mirror and see they are everything they dislike about others??? They are what they are because they have the same influences as the others they put down??? How can they go about thinking they are better??

I some days feel like some kind of common sense encyclopedia, and wish I had a nice easy simple way of dealing with this so nobody gets hurt feelings.

Nobody likes to hear... you are just like so and so, when they continue to put so and so down.

Sigh....

Aw it is so tough to listen to this person say things badly about his parents yet I see so much of them in him.

Then to hear comments like Do you see why I like so and so, I don't know why I do, he can be such a ***** doing things that really make me mad, hurt etc....

And I thought wow, you do that to others too.

Now don't get me wrong this person is a very nice person with a handful of flaws, but to not see these in his self, yet be so critical of others is disheartening :(

To the average bear he is extremely likable.

Some people will never learn that we are not always right, and just keep on taking the position.

People like this Minksy hunny, are small-minded and shallow. They feel the need to control the people and situations around them. I think that usually they don't have much of a life outside work and also, imo, they feel vastly inferior to those whom they put down.

You just gotta feel sorry for them hunni! ;)

some people are SO insecure that the only way they can make themselves feel better is by putting others down.

they amuse me because it's SO obvious.

Actually, my last post was based on your first post, so this one made me rethink.

Don't they say that although we don't notice our own bad habits so much, we absolutely hate them in other people. My son has the same bad habits as I do. I wish I didn't have them but it really bugs me when he does them! :o

So maybe this chap doesn't see it in himself but loathes it in others, such as his parents?

(I need the little peanuts gif of Lucy here, saying the doctor is in and charging 5cents! :D Okay, the amateur psychologist is out now! :wah: )

aw thanks guys

Zeee you will look for any excuse to touch a female tsk tsk tsk.

Yeah when people feel insecure like this they also fail in seeing the good in them. :( which leads to insecurity all over, one big old circle :( Makes me sad.

Looking in the mirror can be scary.

It can strip away the image we have of ourselves and then your left with reality. Too painful ? Too stark ? Too big of a hill to climb ? Too much work ?

Its so much easier to expect higher standards from everyone else ?

Take away the image and whats left ? Me. You. That could be earth shattering for someone that needs to protect themselves.

It is usually the most critical people who have never examined for a moment who they are. Or have never taken an inventory.. reviewing the past, discovering traits picked up along the way. Controlling personalities live vicariously through others. Spending time trying to run others lives instead of monitoring their own actions. It has been my experience that very critical people observe life, rather than living it. It is very common for these personalities to be initally very well liked, but theyare operating a hidden agenda. It is only those who get close to them for an extended period of time who come to discover how shallow and hurtful their observations can be to others.

I think we ought to swing this topic over to all of us looking in the mirror.... some of what we see (ok me) hurts like hell, other bits I see I think oooh yeah you have come a long way baby.

How is it some of our mirrors show some of us with flaws and other peoples mirrors show them as perfect specimines.....

I want a trick mirror that shows me tall and thin, gogeous and blond ahahahaha

I see better now than I have ever done. ;)

I think I have accepted what I am, there is only one thing that really bothers me and that is my allergies and the way they affect my skin, but after a bottle full of anti-histamines during an attack no one would know!
