Dont get me wrong, I live for your animal posts. I even left work early hoping to find one.

I love deer!! (DeerS?):-3 I love plural deer! :wah:
I would be thrilled to have deer in my yard and I would allow them to eat whatever they wanted. I would always worry about what would happen if I moved and others took over- would they be kind to the deer too or not? I know we aren't supposed to interfere with wildlife and usually that's a good idea for both parties but I don't think I could resist a whole yard of little Rudolphs!!

As it is, I have a warren of desert cottontail bunnies, probably about 20 or so who come out and play in my yard at night, usually in the back where my "pet cemetery" is located. I always feel especially blessed by Nature for the gift of the Buns.

I think the deer are lovely, I would love having them come by my yard, but it is fenced. But we have the wild bunny family, chipmunks, squirrels and lots of birds. The chipmunks build their burrow next to house, in my tulip patch. I never get any tulips, they must munch on them when it is very cold. But their burrow is smart, they stay close to the warm house.

We had a beautiful red fox in our yard last winter.
He looked so gorgeous against the fallen snow
But he woulda eaten Buster for breakfast if he could have :-3

As cute as a Deer is, they are also unknowingly as dangerous. :-2
As many Deer carry "Deer Ticks" on them, that fall/jump off the Deer for whatever reason and then land on your lawn & or bushes! Two years ago, we spotted a herd of 7 or 8 Deer in our back yard. Not only did they "eat" the entire bottom of every everygreen tree on our property from ground level to about 5 feet high, they left many "Ticks" around. As the next day we found out about the Ticks the hard way. When our Daughter brought her Westie over for a visit, he went out to the back yard and 10 minutes later came back in with "4" ticks on him!! It was a tough nightmare removing them, as well as then making the poor dog sick for a few days! So . . . . . . . .

I enjoyed this link about the deer. With their house built in the deer's natural habitat, sure their yard will be full of them, especially when fed.
Cars, I think you are misinformed about deer ticks. Ticks do not "jump." They crawl. Deer are not the only animal that will bring ticks into your yard. Every single animal that walks your yard will eventually carry a tick including you. It takes 24 hours for a tick to find a place to embed themself into a warm, moist area on a body. Ticks just don't make an animal nor human sick for a few days if left untreated. It may last for years.
Anyone who resides in a rural area knows what preventive measures to take to ensure warding off ticks, yet enjoy the wildlife.

17 deer came to my door this morning and asked me to leave the neigborhood..
They said it would get really ugly if I didn't..
