You are welcome, Cher. I heard this yesterday, and since no one had posted it here yet, thought I would oblige.

OK, I heard about this, effecting WA CA Idaho Nevada AZ NM Oregon.(FOXEY CO.)

Ecoli - is that due to the handlers not washing? Whether out on the fields, or the produce guy in your store, that is where this parasite comes from right??

Like Snooze said ... those poor farmers. A recall like this can be financially devestating for a farmer.

At the risk of being labled a tree hugging environmentalist I can't help but wonder though how much of this we are bringing on ourselves. I can't help but wonder if our current commercial farming practices are partialy to blame for all this? We abuse our environment in so many ways I wonder if we are seeing a cumluative toll coming to bear here?

It used to be that testing of foods produced organicly and those produced commercialy revealed very little difference in nutrient levels between the two. Recent tests now would suggest that the nutrient level of commercialy produced foods are declining. Perhaps it is time to take a closer look at how we raise our food and take an approach that is more in tune with nature. Maybe using less synthetic substances in our farming practices and polluting less would be a good thing!

ISorry to be crude..but I think it comes from fecal matter. My understanding is that the "infection" happened in the fields...not in the store or where the veggies are prepared for sale. At least that is what it was with the spinach.

I may be wrong though.

Patsy, in meat products I believe the e-coli comes from proccessing machinery that is unclean. In the case of this produce I believe they found the bacteria in the irrigation water used to water the crops.

Oh great, it's in the water for the crops.. Probably in the soil forever..

I recommend everyone try to grow your own if possible. Women can't survive without their salads.!!
