when was the last time you really really wanted to belt someone ?

i hate hitting people i hate it when people are bullied afraid i just hate it

i hate confrontation , yes i do , look i really do OK i'm not arguing OK

my partner used to argue because I'd rather walk away than argue with

people even if they were really rude to me , you'd be surprised how many

drunken ass wipes think its great fun to pick on the biggest guy in the pub

and if the guy wont argue back its a win win situation for him but for me its a

lose lose one a)walk away look a coward or b) hit him look like a bully

so i just walk away

suzy and i were out about a year ago , this guy punches his girlfriend then

throws a glass , which hits sue in the face cutting her eye he then picks up

another glass he is about to throw it so i hit him he went through the hatch

in the bar unconscious on the floor(don't feel sorry for him he was out on bail

for Grievous bodily harm on a 67 year old man) yep he beat him to a pulp for

nothing, sue by the way is the first one to lead me away if any one starts

on me now the whole episode left her hysterical

but getting back to my point sorry for the ramble

last night the land lord of a pub not mine said we were due to have a

christening here but the baby died he started laughing and said don't worry

the food wont be wasted we can use it for the wake , its coming up for the

for my daughters birthday the one that died and i may be a bit more sensitive

than normal but i really really wanted to grab him by the throat and shake

the living daylights out of him for saying such horrible things

but as usual jimbo walked away

so when was the last time you wanted to punch some one and why

I don't think I have ever wanted to punch anyone. But I know I have felt extreme anger and probably walked away. I don't like confrontations.

Id rather verbally put someone down, then physically do it.. I don't know.. I just see "hitting" as something really stupid.. like who is anyone to touch anyone else. i wouldnt like it done to me.. i wouldnt do it to someone else.

It amused the rest of the room though. I'm better at calming things down than stirring things up.

The last time I hit someone was when a frat bro got my 16 yr old sister pregnant. I got drunk. pounded on his door at 3am and as soon as the door opened and I could see his face I wound up and he landed 10 feet across the room.

I think its best to save the hitting for the really important stuff. The guy with the stupid comment deserves pity more than anything. Pity for being so ignorant.

I rarely if ever do, get into physical conflicts with people, especially with strangers! It's just not worth it!! In the end, either they get hurt, or you are hurt! And even sometimes it can be hurt seriously! Also you never know if strangers carry weapons, maybe that's why they feel that they are invincible in the first place, & just looking for a rift! Years ago when I was younger, I "had" a friend that carried a snub nose 38 in an ankle holster.

He was a little guy, 5'-8" or so, & was maybe 140lbs. (I did say he was little)

But because he knew he had the gun, he thought it made him 10ft tall! And as you mentioned about big guys, "he" always seemed to pick on the biggest guy in the Bar/Pub. The first time he got "us" into a rift, he pulled his gun, & we were able got get out without any further incident. I told him I was not a happy camper with that event, & he better change his ways! He was good for few months, then one night after we downed a few, he started his shenanigans again! This time not only did he pull his gun, but he "fired" it up into the ceiling! So as the bar-keep was calling the police, we high tailed it out of there & got away! Needless to say, I sarted off this post saying I "had" a friend! We parted ways for good that night, & then I heard he moved to another state, so don't really know how he ended up!

PS: And then not to mention, in today's society, hitting someone most likely will land you in a "LAWSUIT/Jail!

jimbo's verdict like me most people don't like fighting

i was expecting more of a debate about when enough is enough

the guy that threw a glass in Sue's face and had picked up another glass

to throw if i had not acted like i did some one else could of been maimed

violence is seldom the answer but when it is its the only answer

I learned to control my temper a long time ago for the simple reason that I lose it completely now I keep it as as a reserve in case I can't talk myself out of trouble. Very seldom do I feel threatened or intimidated and if someone does try to provoke me I usually don't care enough about what they think to worry. I learned at school the classic "Thank you very much for expressing your opinion and I wish you every success in finding somone that cares what you think" or the shorter "I'm sorry but you have me confused with someone that cares what you think". Thickos can't work out if you are insulting them and you have just mucked upm their siomian threat display so they don't know what to do next. You get to know which pubs to avoid.

On the other hand drunks are hard to deal with if they are beyond reason so i would probably walk away as well. It's not cowardice if you refrain form beating the **** out of a drunk it's common decency. Everybody else probably appreciates you are merely avoiding an unnecessary fight.

I know a guy who is six feet ten and always getting picked on, when sober he doesn't end up in a fight as he can talk his way out of it and he is very big, when drunk he is violent and looks for trouble. I've seen him in both states

Jimbo, the guy who hurt Suzy with the glass had it coming. I think you had every right to hit that creep and cease what may have been an even uglier scene. In my old fashioned way of thinking, that was the manly thing to have done and as you know, I'm not big on hitting people either.

The jerk landlord, although he probably could use a whap to the head, is more a situation where a well placed comment would suffice. I would have called him on what he said and told him what a %$#!& thing that was to say. That would have been appropriate in my opinion. But you did right not to hit the guy. :)

In my initial post I did say rarely, so in the case you mentioned I would have had done the same thing also. But I rarely got involved cause when I did, then I went over the top & did serious damage. I was in it to win it! :guitarist

(But that was another me, a lifetime ago.:) )

I believe physical violence is rarely the answer, but sometimes it is the only answer. I have a customer who loves to run his mouth constantly to other customers. We're not talking some young punk kid here. We're talking about a person 60+ years old! He does it, thinking they won't do anything since they'd get barred for 30 days, but just once, I'd LOVE to see someone knock that attitude right out of him.:-5

I often have to deal with allsorts of unsavory comments and behaviour from all sorts of people, some of whom who really need a belt to shake them out of it. But, it's part of my job to deal with this sort of thing, and sometimes it is very frustrating not being able to belt them. So yes, I often feel like belting someone.

No, I don't punch them unless in self defence, and then it's NHB!

I feel that I am better equipped to inflict a more lasting damage verbally than physically.
