I used to live in midtown Sacramento, where there were lots of cake and coffee shops. There was one that had every kind of cake you could want to eat, baked there daily. It was a tiny place, with small cafe tables outside and it had a European name. And all kinds of different beverages. When you walked by it, it just smelled so good.

:) :p

Yah, I even applied for a job there, even though I knew nothing about working in a bakery. Just so I could be smelling cake all day. I didn't even get an interview. And I remember that it was a bit high priced for a slice of cake. They must have had secret recipes.

:) :D

I'll do that now, and if it's not the right place, I'll move it :)

Here's the Sock it to me recipe (this is one I had to copy, as I'm at work, and mine is at home, but it's basically the same)

1 package of Duncan Hines butter recipe golden cake mix

1 cup of dairy sour cream

1/2 cup of Crisco oil (other brands may cause cake to fail)

1/4 cup of sugar

1/4 cup of water

4 eggs

Filling

1 cup of pecans, chopped

2 tablespoons of brown sugar

2 tablespoons of cinnamon

Mix and beat the ingredients at high speed for 2 minutes. Pour 2/3 of the batter in a greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Combine the filling ingredients and sprinkle over batter in pan. Spread remaining batter evenly over batter and filling mixture. Bake at 375ºF. for 45 to 55 minutes until cake springs back when touched lightly. Cool right side up for about 25 minutes, then remove from pan. Drizzle a glaze of 1 cup confectioners sugar and 2 tablespoons milk over cake.

Watergate cake

1 pkg. cake mix, white

1 pkg. instant pistachio pudding

1 c. oil -as directed on cake mix

3 whole eggs - as directed on cake mix

1 c. ginger ale (can use club soda) *use this instead of the water in the cake mix directions

1 c. chopped pecans (chopped very fine)

Watergate cake frosting

1 tub cool whip (1 large tub, but if you use the small ones, it'll take 2)

1 package pistachio pudding

1 cup chopped pecans

Hey Miz :)

Me too! I've got a great recipe for white chocolate cheesecake.

And I make my streudel from scratch -- do you guys know what streudel is? It's homemade pastry dough filled with apples, cinnamon and sugar, raisins, nuts and a touch of lemon juice. With extra cinnamon and sugar on top.

I'm pretty good with appetizers, too. My latest and greatest is a carmelized onion pizza. :-6

As I've stated before, I get bored very easily so I'm always on the lookout for new things.

My favourite type of cake is one that you've made yourself. I make all my own cakes and my kids love them. I do a wicked sponge cake with cream, home made, and lovely fairy cakes. I like to make ginger and maderia too!

Mmmmmm yeah, I have a heavenly recipe for carrot cake. And it has real cream cheese for the frosting. The frosting had a big chunk of cream cheese, with powdered sugar and vanilla mixed into it. And the cake calls for several grated carrots and lots of brown sugar and cinnamon.

Iced coffee with that for sure.:-6

Not being a big cake person, I would have to answer cheese cake. Just a plain chesecake, maybe with a bit of strawberries or cherries on top.

Oh, I love making cheesecakes. I've got loads of recipes for various ones, and make them often. My favorite, though, is the chocolate one. It's thick and rich and heavenly.
