Spitting the dummy out.

Post by Bill Sikes »

You may have seen a thread in the Journal Area, entitled "GUESS

KARENSVINEYARD DON'T BELONG HERE thanks for the threatening PM's",

and wondered about it.

An explanation, since my name appears in it:-

Last night, there were many duplicate posts from KVM, regarding the sad

death of CC, all with the same title and content. I thought this was a

little undignified, and PM'd KVM to say so. I haven't got the PM saved,

but it was along the lines of "please stop posting all these duplicate

messages, it's rather undignified and doesn't help at all". I did not

get a reply. Mr. T. had some PMs he sent to KVM (independently of mine)

actually published by KVM in a couple of threads. That was the end of

the story, as far as I was concerned. Nothing threatening in the e-mail

I sent, nor condescending, nor derogatory.

This morning I see this rather oddball attack on Mr. T and I. It's

in the Journal Area, which cannot be replied to direct. In my opinion,

it's a rather spiteful way of trying to hit back at a perceived slight.

Throwing the toys out of the pram. Spitting out the dummy. Being a baby.

Shame. Sorry, but I needed to reply somehow.

Bill Sikes and Tombstone-- Takes some pretty big Cahoonas to scold me for

my posts telling people to remember CheshireCat. Tombstone, in case you

didn't notice i obviously could'a cared less about dupicatin' a post like

that. One last thing tombstone, as for your PM's and posting 'em on here.

Too bad. Gave ya less room'ta run your mouth. Rather display them so that

others who do give a damn about her can see how you feel. Bill Sikes,

find someone else to hunt down and patronize cause this girl's 'bout had

it with ya. FYI i'm duplicatin' this post for one last farewell and a

kiss my country ass. As for the rest'a you folks, i may be back sometime.

thanks for those who were glad i told them. Got some PM's of loved

characteristics of CheshireCat. adios amigos!

If anyone feels the need to comment, I'll appreciate PM.

Thanks for chiming in,I was concerned and pm'd her myself, but no return.I guess it was just a knee jerk reaction too defend CC.You are right ,this will pass.Days turn too weeks, then months, them years.I will always have her in my head, and i will deal with that myself.I associate her here as a bolt of lightening, fast, quick, and hits for a moment and changes your life forever. We can best honor by keeping this place pleasant and happy because this place was so important too her and she loved everyone in it.

The one thing that bothers me most is this. Karen had posted it before and stated that she would be posting it in multiple threads. I know myself I was just too lazy, too tired, too stressed to try to stop her. I am sure I can't be the only one guilty of not trying to stop her.

I see what you mean, Peg. When I read that she was going to post in multiple threads about it, I thought, "Do we really need to see this everywhere? I don't think it's a good idea at all."

I did not PM her about it, as I thought that maybe this was her way of dealing with it. And I left it at that.

I saw that, too, but it was delayed for some time and I thought she

had changed her mind. But even so, I don't know if anything any of us

said would have stopped her.

I think she had good intentions, sort of a "get the word out" and maybe

she didn't do Today's Posts like some of us do, or see them all lined up

on the home page. Maybe she just thought putting something in

several different places would be of a benefit to someone. That's

the way I prefer to think of it.

And BS, not to be sarcastic, just checking, but do you know about

the "Report this post" triangle? It might have been better to use that

instead of a pm, then Admin can suss it out and decide whether or

not to take any action. Then you don't run the risk of calling

heat down on yourself. IMHO. telling someone something they

have posted is "undignified" is pressing a button for that

person.

Also, a quick check of the "Member's List"would have shown you

that KV and KO are no more. Thereby letting you know that you

didn't need to continue this, admin took action already.

I cannot remember the exact words of my PM - only that it was worded along the

lines that I mentioned. It was not abusive, nor condescending, etc.

Yes, I do know about the "Report" icon. I have used it once, possibly twice. The

day that I can't talk to someone direct, rather than through an intermediary

(like "telling tales" at school) will be most unfortunate.

By starting this thread - have you perhaps seen my request for comments by PM

(so as not to inflame the situation) - I had hoped to respond to an unfair and

absolutely groundless accusation, viz:

KARENSVINEYARD wrote: GUESS KARENSVINEYARD DON'T BELONG HERE thanks for the threatening PM's

Bill Sikes and Tombstone (snip)"

"Threatening PM's", indeed! Certainly not from me, and not by Mr. T., I'll bet. I

could not otherwise have responded to that rather poisonous post, as it was

submitted to the read-only "Journal" forum, surprise surprise.

I am certainly *not* trying to continue this - hence my original request for PMs

to discuss it - see the first post in this thread - and I absolutely support TS in

his actions.

Bill :)

I don't think anyone wants to exacerbate the situation. But I think it's O.K. for the members to comment publicly on this matter. That way, we can see what our peers think of the situation.

And I agree with you -- I absolutely believe that TStone, gentleman that he is, would *never* be nasty in a situation such as this. I support him fully :-6

BS, I DID read your post and I DID in fact see the request for pm's,

thank you very much.

HOWEVER, I was, let's see, oh, post 14 in the thread... obviously,

others felt free to publicly post (as is their right) and NOT send

you a pm. If you had truly wanted NO replies, then YOU could

have started a thread in the "Journals" section, and asked for pm's

since there are no replies THERE.

Posting publicly helps sometimes OTHER readers who may NOT in fact

know about the report post ability, Or who just might be interested

in other things said in this thread, and aren't comfortable enough

saying so, by pm or otherwise.

You site an unfair and absolutely groundless accusation, I gave my opinion

of what your words might have sounded like to someone. Also, so that

other readers might see.

If you had checked the member's list before posting as I suggested, then

you would have seen the member in question is no longer here and

those posts are removed. Therfore, you had a MUCH better way

available to "not continue" this instead of opening it up, and re-posting

things for a possibly greater audience than had seen the original.

Reporting a post is not telling tales. It assists admin greatly since there

is almost no other way for admin to see something. The sheer volume

of material here prevents admin being able to see it all. Admin then

decides what action to take. In some cases, it's not the action the

reporter would like, but so be it. I've reported stuff in the past that

was let stand, and I accept that.
