You said a mouthful there, LD.
I would just like to say something. Maybe some of the others of
you can do this, too.
You guys know how I like to help people with their dog problems.
Something I really, really enjoyed about Cat was that she never
ONCE made me feel inadequate in any way. She respected my
life experience as I respected her knowledge and training. It
was a rare quality I don't often find, and it was very much
appreciated. There were times when I'd pm her about one thing
or another, and she'd say "You covered it" and just be so warm
and open, not trying to show me up AT ALL. I want people to
know that about her.
I am going to email her mom a link to this thread, okay?

Please do send this to them, Val....good thought!
When I first came to the Garden and wrote about working at the zoo, etc, I got a lovely private message from C'C about our mutual interests. We swapped messages about animals and small things--nothing important, but enough to know there was a very sweet spirit at the end of that signature.
I loved the way she showed us her shirt.

I can't believe this!! I just got on here and saw the one thread, wondered what was going on and then...read the other. I just can't believe this!! How can this be so?? All she did for animals. Her kindness. What a heart. This is unreal.

Yeah, we were PMing almost every day, about our work and all. She used to tell me what was going on with the animals.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me
If tomorrow starts without me,
And I'm not there to see,
If the sun should rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me;
I wish so much you wouldn't cry
The way you did today,
While thinking of the many things
We didn't get to say.
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you'll miss me too.
But if tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand
That an angel came and called my name,
And took me by the hand.
He said my place was ready,
In heaven far above,
And that I'd have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
But as I turned to walk away,
A tear fell from my eye
For all my life, I'd always thought,
I didn't want to die. I had so much to live for,
So much left yet to do.
It seemed almost impossible,
That I was leaving you.
I thought of all the yesterdays,
The good ones and the bad,
I thought of all the love we shared,
And all the fun we had.
If I could relive yesterday,
Just even for a while,
I'd say good-bye and kiss you
And maybe see you smile.
But then I fully realized,
That this could never be,
For emptiness and memories,
Would take the place of me.
And when I thought of worldly things,
I might miss come tomorrow,
I thought of you, and when I did,
My heart was filled with sorrow.
But when I walked through heaven's gates,
I felt so much at home.
When God looked down and smiled at me,
From His great golden throne,
He said, "This is eternity,
And all I've promised you
Today your life on earth is past,
But here life starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last,
And since each day's the same way
There's no longing for the past.
You have been so faithful,
So trusting and so true.
Though there were times
You did some things
You knew you shouldn't do.
But you have been forgiven
And now at last you're free.
So won't you come and take my hand
And share my life with me?"
So if tomorrow starts without me,
Don't think we're far apart.
For every time you think of me,
I'm right here, in your heart.

If I Knew...
If I knew it would be the last time
that I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute or two
to stop and say "I love you," instead
of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.
There will always be another day
to say our "I love yous",
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can dos?"
But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget,
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight..
So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today,
whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear,
Take time to say "I'm sorry," "please forgive me,"
"thank you" or "it's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

I just got email from Cheshire Cat's mom, I didn't ask her if I could
share it all so I'll just tell you that she knows how much Lela enjoyed
FG and the people here... and she really loved her t-shirt.
I just sent her the link to the candles, anything we can all do to be
some small comfort to her family...

Oh CSquared
We shared so many laughs together
And a boatload of PMs as well
She was a good soul
Her love of life was evident in every post she made
And her spirit will live on
It was a privilege and an honor to have met you, CSquared
I love you :-4

I posted this in another thread, but it fits here even better.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was going back through her past posts. Man, was she punny! *rim shot*
And a huge flirt, though she never flirted with me. :yh_think
She deserves a wake, not a ... a ... whatever you call the sad ones.
Go and read the thread Hot Cross Puns, Bothwell's Pub, Bothwell's Hotel, or the Roll in the Hay thread. CC is not one to remember and smile, she's one to remember and chuckle, then blush because someone's looking at you like you're crazy for chuckling for no reason.
She's had a rough time in the past but she was moving forwards, her life was good, she had a loving family, lots of new friends who cared deeply about her and a job she loved. For us all it was too early but we can take comfort in knowing that she was happy and her life shone brightly. I'm glad she got to spend some time here where she made some very dear friends. That helps.
