i cried my eyes out for half an hour and i don't feel i can talk about it or tell any
one i know except a load of people i'm never gona meet on this forum
i had a daughter who died when she was a baby and i bought my other daughter
up as a single dad until she was 5 her mom then come and took her to the usof a
where i had no contact for ten years i did not know if she was dead or alive you
can imagine every bad storm in or around new york or 9/11 it was hard . but after
ten long heartbreaking years by pure fluke and some good deeds by some good
people we got back in touch and i flew out to the u s to meet her last month
we got on great i rang her every day since and i tried to get to know her then last
night when i got home i opened a letter from the us from my daughter
it said dear dad i cant tell you how wonderful it is just to have some one to call
dad and she went on to say how she had missed me over the years and wanted
to make some new memories with me etc .i've waited 10 long years for that
letter , why the hell was i crying tears of joy ? tears of sadness for all the years i
've missed for she was a child when she was taken and is a beautiful woman
now ,the child i knew does not exist any more or was it just tears of relief for i
wondered if she would like me even or i might be a disappointment too her but
the thing is i have an outlet for all these feelings i neither understand or can tell
any one about except for you guys .. thanks i feel better all ready

How wonderful, tears of joy.
Your daughter is so happy - I'm so happy for you.
Like I've said before - be thankful the time you have with your loved one.
I thank you so much for sharing.

I wouldn't be so concerned with the past but more with the future - Jimbo. You haven't said whether she is married or not but if she is married or with someone, just know that you will be there when she has children and you can see your own grandchildren. I think that would be the greatest gift for you.
What Helefra said.

Look to the future, it will get better and better. :-6
Big hug for you.

That's heartwarming Jimbo.
My ex-wife who had relatives in America, threatened to take my kids to live there at the end of every argument as a way of controlling me. I spent years from the first threat when my son was only a year old to when the marriage ended expecting the worst. As this was my Achilles heel, it was exploited to the maximum. Even during our divorce she threatened to take my daughter there until she protested.
In the grand scale of life you could say 10 years isn't so long but of course they were formative years. The thing is, you now have many years to build a good relationship, and this started the moment that intent was declared. You BOTH lost out and now you both have the opportunity to have a loving relationship on your terms. Good luck and best wishes

thanks uncle that means so much to me . i know what a fantastic opportunity this is now , her mom has been married since our split and the guy divorced her coz the woman is phys co , and women before you line up to kick old jimbo in the nuts i would never ever say that to my daughter i know i cant say horrible thins about her mom without hurting her, when i got to see my girl again i had to meet them both for a lunch for i had not seen her for ten years and really i was a stranger to her ,this woman the mom that is had not seen me for 10 years and the whole lunch was ruined by her saying the most awful things ,in the end my daughter shouted at her to leave me alone , to think when we broke up i was actually heartbroken ,wow it suddenly hit me it was not to blame for the break up , i knew i could not get on with this nasty piece of work for even 2 minutes , i tell you my good lady at home certainly went up a peg or three in my eyes , now my daughter could see for herself the sort of guy i was not the sort of guy her mom said i was , without all the negative input my girl and me should have a long and happy life together

A split/divorce always pissed me off when the children are used as a pawn - they do desperately try to control and manipulate the situation.
And when you see the other person after some years - your so glad you got rid of them, wow - what did I ever see in them ??
Jimbo
for your EX to bring up nasty comments - shows your daughter the nasty, evil in her mom. That stuff is so old - why bother?
You and your daughter have years in front of you - make memories that you both will treasure. 1960 - your young..

all you men out there word of warning by the time you have to explain the plot why the klingons have cow pats stuck to their heads , and why if odo is a shape shifter why cant he pull a better looking face etc you wont enjoy it any more and will want to watch some thing else
