i wonder if there are any plugins or extensions for the forum software that would cause 'ignored' users to truly, really and truly be ignored? that is to say, there wouldn't be the constant reminder

it really would be great. i'd like to completely erase the user in question from my experience of forumgarden. it'd make for a much more enjoyable experience overall. as it is, it's like an itching scab i keep picking at.

I'd also like it if ignored users didn't get their messages sent to me on email notifications

Well, I am currently not ignoring anyone..so Bez, Chonsi and Snooze..you are safe with me!! Oh..anastrophe..I am not ignoring you either!:D But you make a good point...you do not need the constant reminders that you are ignoring someone.

Rather reminds me of what Netzero does to me. I have some spam addresses on my block list. And the block works great..except for the occasional email from Netzero telling me they blocked an incoming email for me!!:-5

I cannot ignore this thread since it was started by my new bestest friend. :-4

While we're at it, if threads and folders could be individually flagged "never show this in the Today's Posts list" it would help focus into the meat a lot more readily.

Any time you feel the urge, first contact Bez. She'll give you "what for" about picking scabs, and you'll lose all compulsion for it.

Who is O'Brien and why do you want to ignore him/her? If they made you mad enough to ignore, why not just ban them?:-2 (Lord I hope I'm not O'Brien!)

since i'm not admin any more, i can't ban anyone.



however, even when i was admin, i wouldn't ban someone just because they made me mad. had i done so, o'brien would have been banned long long ago. just aggravating me or getting under my skin was never grounds for banning.

i see spot got it right after pegs inquiry. i did not need to know about teredo navalis though, that's for sure.

I'd like to think that is a good description of myself. Since the OP links to my ignore list I think it safe to say I am the O'Brien in question. Yet I remember a time when anastrophe entrusted me with some of his opinions of other members he so despised. It's a fickle list at best. It changes rapidly when someone proves him wrong.

He said he was going to ignore me and then didn't. I tried but, alas, the email notifications kept showing him addressing me in subsequent posts. I gave up on the idea. There are more annoying things in life than a...oh, no point posting something offensive.

I think thats a pretty good idea, even thuogh that would suck for some people but still a good idea.

Anastrophe can I offer you a band aid, Stop picking at the scab, let it go, the less of a deal you make of the poster the easier it will be to just not care about them anymore. Or we will send Bez after you.

thankfully - and i'm sure to great relief of some - i have a very significant service migration coming up, and simply must stop wasting my time here. i use FG as my excuse for procrastination, and the time of procrastination has passed; simply too much to do.

A funny thing that happened when I first joined this forum and I was getting into arguments and tiffs. I'd place people on ignore and then it would turn out that the ignore feature on this forum would instead place them on my buddy list. So I'd then get a PM saying to stop placing them on my ignore list. When I was really trying to ignore them. I wonder if that is still a glitch on this forum.:wah:
