Well...got this from yesterday's paper. And it IS legit..for now at least:

E-mail asks for support of young girl stricken by cancer

Marketta Gregory

Staff writer

(July 23, 2006) — HENRIETTA — Don't delete all the forwards in your e-mail account because the one about Alyssa Bruno of Henrietta is sincere.

One of Alyssa's teachers started an e-mail chain to request birthday cards for Alyssa, who is 5 years old and has diffuse pontine glioma, a cancer in the brain stem. The e-mail also asks that people send a penny for good luck.

Apparently the forward is working.

When the mail came Thursday, Alyssa had 40 birthday cards — and her sixth birthday isn't until Aug. 2.

Alyssa was thrilled when her mother, Lori Bruno, dumped the cards on Alyssa's bed. Then, Friday's mail brought at least 115 more.

"A card and a prayer is what we need," her mother said.

To add your good wishes, mail a card to: Alyssa Bruno Birthday Cards, Federation of Social Workers, 167 Flanders St. (D-12), Rochester, NY 14619.

The federation will deliver the cards on Alyssa's birthday.

I am bumping this thread, just in case you get info on this via email. The little girl mentioned in this piece, died about 3 weeks ago. So, if you get an email about it, please let the folks know it is no longer valid.:(
