Have you tried to disconnect WMP and then see how things work? My sympathies!

have you got 'System Restore' ? If you have , you can tell your computer to go back to the day before the dodgy stuff was downloaded and your old Media Player will be restored and the new version will disappear.

I've used it recently and it's easy (on windows XP anyway)......honest. I installed something but was unable to un-install it afterwards and system restore was my only option.

You can also reverse the 'restore' if it doesn't work.

Don't confuse this with the sytem recovery programme that takes you computer back to factory settings...you would only use this in dire emergencies.
