This is not an urban myth... my aunt years ago worked for
See's Candies and got this recipe for (small batch) fudge.
It's killer, gang, so be careful!! I have only given this out one time but now decided to share with you all.
See's Fudge
4 1/2 cups sugar
1 can + 1 oz. Evap. milk (13 oz.)
Place in large kettle + bring to full rolling boil for 8
mins, stirring constantly. (Keep heat as low as possible
while still boiling)
Place in large mixing bowl:
3- 6oz pkgs semi-sweet choc chips
1 7oz jar marshmallow cream
2 cubes butter 2 tsps vanilla
Pour sugar and milk over ingredients in bowl.
Stir until smooth and add 3 cups chopped nuts.
Pour into large cookie sheet. When cool, cut into
small squares.
Evap. milk used to come in 13 oz. cans.
A little spray coating on your kettle will help
keep mixture from sticking and make clean-up
easier.
Yummy. Enjoy!

Ohhh.. I love fudge
thanks for the recipe.. 3 cups of nuts does not sound like a small batch though LOL
last time made fudge something was wrong with the candy thermometer and the fudge would not harden.. it was like molasses, sticky.. but we still ate it (with a spoon)

Hmmm I guess that's "small batch" as opposed to what a See's Candies store
would make for sale to customers! It is actually quite a bit but I always keep
it in the fridge and get nice little boxes, makes great hostess gifts for parties
and if people stop by. I limit myself to a piece or two a day. TRY to limit
myself.
My husband just came in totally shocked "SWEETIE, YOU'RE GIVING AWAY
YOUR FUDGE RECIPE?"

I love fudge, my mum used to make big batches of it when I was a kid

my favourite flavour back then was chocolate but now I prefer rum and raisin

you can't beat homemade fudge though, thanks Valerie, will try out the recipe asap

I think I'm in the Twilight Zone! I posted to this thread a little while ago and asked a question....but my post is not here.

Oh, well, I'll not take it personally.
I love fudge, but am not much of a cook. Please tell me what a "cube" of butter is. I'm going to try to make this. If it doesn't work out...well, I've learned how to hide the evidence.
If you can't see this, please let me know! :yh_laugh

A "cube" is a stick of butter, Chickie.

I made this recipe "as written" yesterday. It does taste wonderful, but it didn't set up so it can be cut - it's still rather "spoon fudgy". I'll blame myself for not checking any other "See's Fudge" recipes online, but have just done that, only to find that they call for "3 bags (12 oz.) choc. chips", where your recipe states "3 bags (6 oz.) choc. chips. Others = 36 oz. total, yours = 18 oz. total. That could certainly account for it not getting hard enough to cut. Any thoughts? Linda

Sometimes called marshmallow FLUFF. It looks like marshmallows
that aren't "formed" it's very gooey and sticky. I'm not sure
you can get it anywhere but the states...

Thank you so much for the recipe. I bought the ingredients yesterday and just read the post from fudgefinder that said she thinks it needs 3 12 oz. pkgs. instead of 3 6oz. pkgs. 0f chips. Which is correct? Did hers not set because of under boiling it? I'm all set to start boiling.

Three 6 oz. packages... 18 ounces total is the correct amount. The 6 oz. packages
can be hard to find, so sometimes I buy just 2 of the 12 oz. and then split the second
package in half, weighing out 6 ounces. It's more of a pain doing it that way, but
whaddya gonna do?
Let me know how it turns out for you!!
