:mad:I am really, really angry. I work at the place detailed in that news story, in a security role.

Let me tell you that I cannot say how angry and upset that anyone could be so tactless, stupid and downright offensive as that man.

I wonder how he would feel if he saw me carrying out injured men women and children from the center if it got blown up. It's part of my job to help people in emergencies.

This guy should be sacked, no question.

And he said all that just before the aniversary of 7/7 and after what has gone before on 9/11 and ther tragic incidents.

I'm bloody furious!!:mad::mad:

Even though I dont agree with what he said, I believe in his right to say it. Why make him retract something that cant be retracted? Why sack him? Doesnt he live in a democratic society that promotes free speech? Speech that costs you, isnt free. Now is it? Just dont re-elect him. Stifling of speech leads to the stifling of ideas. May as well be China then.

Some people are just plain stupid. I agree with Raven. In a democracy that bloke gets the right to speak. We get the right to be offended and to comment about what he said. And his local electorate get the right to kick his ass right the heck outta office, soon.

I met a woman a while back in the centre of town here. She was standing on a street corner extolling the virtues of poor misunderstood extremists and wanted me to sign something condemning the aggressive evil West. I let her have her say. Then I said to her. You can stand there and say what you are saying in the aggressive evil West. You are allowed to be openly stupid in the aggressive evil West. In the poor misguided extremist States you stand up and be stupid, or say what you think, you're dead. I think she was too stupid to understand me. But this is STILL a free country, and that is her right.

Your are right raven, I do believe in the right of free speech, but I have had personal connections with the results of terrorism, both indirectly and directly.

It just brings back bad feelings, when people are a bit insensitive about that sort of thing. :thinking:
