He's the one who could make a guitar talk right? Listening to Rocky Mountain Way, and the one rift in there sounds like the guitar is talking and I knew someone was famous for it. Was it Joe?

The guitar part your talking about was done using a voice box. It's a gutar FX pedal on the floor, and when stepped on, The sound is transffered up a clear plastic tube and the the end of it is taped close to the vocal mic.
When you put the tube in your mouth, it allows the player to vocalise notes. Opening your gob wider, gets you a lower tone, and keeping the gob tighter the tones go higher. And the resulting sound is picked up by the vocal mic, and not the guitar amp.
Rocky Mountain Way, Peter Framptons, "Show me The Way", and Steely Dan's "Haitian Divorce" are probably the most widely known for using this effect.
The nearest sound to the voice box is the more popular , Wha Wha, pedal
3 of my favourite songs
