love the traditional ones very much...but also have a large collection of blues and soul Christmas songs, a favorite being "merry Christmas baby". by various artists.....by the way, Cassie paid a worthy donation to post that nauseating , bug-eyed , obsequious , vile, disgustingly sweet cat just to annoy me.... :-5

I love all the Christmas music........the normal hymn and carols. I also love Charlie Brown's Christmas album and lOVE the Irish Pogues.....album, the Best of the Pogues.
My favorite in it is Fairie Tale of New York, Shane McGowan singing with Kirsty MacColl It's a love story and an utterly fantastic lyrics.........
I'm a huge Pogue fan. Sadly Shane is no longer with the band.....at least not that I know of now. He's a brilliant lyricist and song writer........but also a major drunk!
LADY COP! Buy this album. It's called the THE BEST OF THE POGUES. You will thank me! You have GOT to hear this song! Anyone here from Ireland or England will KNOW the Pogues!
Here are the lyrics to Fairie Tale of New York...........a MUST have!
It was Christmas Eve babe
In the drunk tank
An old man said to me, won't see another one
And then he sang a song
The Rare Old Mountain Dew
I turned my face away
And dreamed about you
Got on a lucky one
Came in eighteen to one
I've got a feeling
This year's for me and you
So happy Christmas
I love you baby
I can see a better time
When all our dreams come true
They've got cars big as bars
They've got rivers of gold
But the wind goes right through you
It's no place for the old
When you first took my hand
On a cold Christmas Eve
You promised me
Broadway was waiting for me
You were handsome
You were pretty
Queen of New York City
When the band finished playing
They howled out for more
Sinatra was swinging,
All the drunks they were singing
We kissed on a corner
Then danced through the night
The boys of the NYPD choir
Were singing "Galway Bay"
And the bells were ringing out
For Christmas day
You're a bum
You're a punk
You're an old slut on junk
Lying there almost dead on a drip in that bed
You scumbag, you maggot
You cheap lousy faggot
Happy Christmas your arse
I pray God it's our last
I could have been someone
Well so could anyone
You took my dreams from me
When I first found you
I kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
Can't make it all alone
I've built my dreams around you
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxoo

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
Just like the one I used to know
Where the treetops glisten
and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow.........da da di da da di

Lovemama. The pogues, outstanding behaviour, THE best christmas song ever, Saw Shane McGowan on the tv last week God he looks awful, all his teeth are now gone and he was swigging neat vodka from the bottle but he sure can sing.
It is the one christmas record that gets everyone on their feet in the pubs over here. How many Christmas songs have the line "You scumbag you maggot"
I am sure you know but Kirsty McColl died a few years ago in a bizarre boating accident.

Bothwell,
I knew you'd know this song AND the Pogues. Oh my God......Shane never has looked good but God bless that talented drunk! About the lyrics.......Insults don't get any more straightforward than that!
Gosh.....it was really horrible when Kirsty died......everyone thought it was Shane who would be dead first.......horrible accident, think they may be still investigaiting it! Details are sketchy, but it is believed she was hit by a speedboat which was in an area reserved for swimmers and the guy who ran into here was a very wealthy Mexican. I haven't followed it lately but the last I heard her mother was trying to get a documentary done on her life......and untimely death.
Hey..................MERRY CHRISTMAS.
:yh_hugs

In typical canadian form.... GHD that is funny and you truly have to be canadian to appreciate that sond.
I would say my fave xmas song too is O Holy night and the best version I have ever heard is by Country singer John Berry the man has a powerfuly beautiful voice and this opinion comes from many a year searching for the best version of that song.
White Christmas by Bing is my second fave.
Then Little Drummer Boy
