Anyone know about fish?

Oh I love fish!! When I was young, we always wanted to have fish as pets, but my dad wouldn't allow us, so he decided to get us mechanical fish instead, as they didn't require any care. Although I was really sad, I still loved watching them float around our tank. I'm not too sure what the problem might be Pinky. My best advice would be to try scanning the net and see if you can't find some help there, I hope you are able to sort the problem out.

Pinky wrote: Thanks pants, he`s not old, only 6 months if that. I didn`t know you could get swimbladder treatment, I`ll have to nip out and go ask at the aquatic shop.

Blackmoors are freshwater fish...the ones with boggly eyes and fantails. And of course, they`re black!

Right gold fish i'm an idiot.

Right i use INTERPET SWIMBLADDER TREATMENT aquarium treatment (the box say's 13 on it) can be used for coldwater fish as well as tropical...good luck pinky

Pinky wrote: Right, I got some. I`ve done another water change and scrubbed the tank out.

New de-chlorinated water is in plus the treatment. Keep your fingers crossed for my little buddy, he doesn`t look too lively, but I`m hoping he`ll start getting better...

Pinky have you tried a treatment that help's to equalises the water, i cant remember what it's called as i've run out but it does help neutralise the chlorine we have in our water(here in the UK) If i'm changing the water in the tank i also use a couple of drop's of White spot control , Algae control and the swim bladder treatment as well as keeping some of the original water to help build back up the bacteria i also have million's of plant's in the tank . Hope it help's.

Pinky wrote: Yeah, I usually use the stuff that helps the filtration...hang on, I`ll go see what it`s called...Stability Boost! I usually leave about a quarter of the original water too. It does build up algae really fast though, maybe I should get something to limit it a bit.

Maybe I should get some more plants, as they`ve munched them to bits! Come to think of it, d`ya reckon that could have something to do with it?

Algae control may help. Also try some lettace once it's been in the tank a couple of day's it get's all soft and my fish just love it and it stop's them munching my plant's .

Is your tank in natural daylight because if it is i dont think there's any thing you can do about the algae it's a sun light thing.

Pinky wrote: Sad news...Little Frankie looked like he was starting to perk up this afternoon, so I was starting to feel a bit more hopeful. I went downstairs about half an hour ago, and he`d died.

The saddest thing was that his mate who came with him from the pet shop was nudging him as if to try and get him up again.

I can`t bring myself to flush him, as it just seems so heartless.

I know a lot of people will think `What`s the big deal? It`s just a fish` but I really do get attached to my pets. I think when you have no kids, you tend to lavish all your love on those that share your space.

Anyway, I will miss him.

Pinky, i'm sorry the treatment did'nt work, fish are pet's to we do sometime's forget that and if it mean's alot to you then it mean's a lot to us .:yh_hugs
