It's 1 May here already - and, although I'm in the autumn hemisphere, today I'm celebrating SPRING and will be dancing with flowers in my hair.

Arise, ye workers from your slumber,

Arise, ye prisoners of want.

For reason in revolt now thunders,

and at last ends the age of cant!

Away with all your superstitions,

Servile masses, arise, arise!

We'll change henceforth the old tradition,

And spurn the dust to win the prize!

So comrades, come rally,

And the last fight let us face.

The Internationale,

Unites the human race.

Yeah, yeah Richard. I spent a 1 May in Moscow in the snow in the old days and that's enough to last me forever. Give me the older version of the festival. And Cars - you'd make a very fine Green Man !!!

Awright, then !

How's about a little "Lusty Month Of May", from Camelot ?

(When it comes to pagan fertility rituals, count me in ! :D )

Tra la! It's May!

The lusty month of May!

That lovely month when ev'ryone goes

Blissfully astray.

Tra la! It's here!

That shocking time of year

When tons of wicked little thoughts

Merrily appear!

It's May! It's May!

That gorgeous holiday

When ev'ry maiden prays that her lad

Will be a cad!

It's mad! It's gay!*

A libelous display!

Those dreary vows that ev'ryone takes,

Ev'ryone breaks.

Ev'ryone makes divine mistakes

The lusty month of May!

* not that there's anything wrong with that !

Now you're talkin my language, Richard (with a Canadian accent, of course... grin)!!!

It's May, it's May - a blot in every way

When all the world is brimming with fun.. wholseome or un

....

The birds and bees with all of their past

Never as fast

Gaze at the human race aghast etc.

In the lusty month of May

My blonde memory I'm sure has probably improved on the original.. but on May Day, anything goes!! Tra la.

Here, May means "Up Day" for the club, on the 6th. Riding season officially begins, (even though we put 120 miles on the bikes today) and the competition to get the most miles by the end of season is FIERCE!! I fully intend to beat out several of the men in the club, even though I'm not officially in the running. *shrug* Who cares? Let's RIDE!!!!

You go, Girl !!! Make them eat your dust.

And let nobody make any naughty connections between your Up Day and other merry May get together rites - or the double whammy may give terminal apoplexy to those longsuffering FGers who are still reeling from your politically incorrect joke elsewhere.. :yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl :yh_rotfl

Laughter is a great gift !!!

Have you lived in both?

Take care,

erm.. yeah, except for the "gay" part !

(Not That There's Anything Wrong With That)

I like the quote I used in another thread :

"I am a Marxist...of the Groucho tendency."

Pagans have 'way more fun than socialists.
