Spot's spate of spurious expulsions got me to thinkin'. I have only used 2 handles (nicknames, identifiers, whatever): Accountable and PhD Donkey, both of which reflect my personality. I have others I could use, if I want:

Brass Tacks

Richard Pate

Myself

I'll think of others soon.

What handles would reflect your personality?

Interesting thought.. I don't think I've ever had one that wasn't more or less my real name. Was once Cowgal_Pam.. grin.. but we won't go there.

Umm. Alternative AV for spot. How about hookworm, cause I'm forever baiting and I usually catch something before I'm through?

Aspasia was the wife of Pericles, in Greek history. She was a famous heterai, or courtesan, who won Pericles' heart. He married her against his own laws he had made, he loved her that much.

*the romantic version*

That was my ID name from long ago, when I first met my husband online. So when you look up at the RPG stats and all, I have created my husband's character here also-Bigdaddy. His character is better at RPG-ing then me!:wah:

*I've never told him he was here at FG too!*:wah:

Telaquapacky is very me. I might have opted for an alternative ID, someone who is sort of an alter-ego, like:

Laocoon, from the tale of the Trojan Horse.

or, Fearless Fosdick, the detective and "ideel" of Lil' Abner.

or, Froggy the Gremlin- the mischevous character from the 1950's Buster Brown kid show.

"Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy!"

I see little bits of myself in all of these, but no one of them tells the whole story like "telaquapacky" does.

A mound of accumulated ruins by water in Pakistan????Telaquapacky is the name of a river gorge in Tenessee that was the site of one of the strangest occurrences in the United States Civil war. One night a company of Union infantry passed through the gorge going south, and a company of Confederate troops passed northward, and in the darkness and the sound of the river, they passed without incident, without hearing or seeing one another. I made that up.

Telaquapacky is really one of 13 consecutive names of a secret club I belonged to when I was in Junior High School. Each of us had the same name- all 13 in the same order (I can't tell you any more of them because I am sworn to secrecy- not really, I use them as computer passwords). We had silly, secret greetings and odd in-jokes. The name itself was sort of like a chant.

Together we all made a public appearance in force one afternoon, in Westwood Village (Los Angeles, near U.C.L.A.), which at the time had been the scene of many free speech and anti Vietnam war protests. We carried a large banner, and signs and placards that were... completely blank. It was an amazing character study. Some motorists shouted angrily at us and shook their fists, others encouraged us and shouted friendly words of solidarity with our cause.

It's pronounced "ta-LACK-a-packy"

ive got a few, whatever im reading or watching at the time kinda makes up my mind on a screen name, buttercup is a character from a book/film - the princess bride

nomad always refers to me as scot girl & i kinda like that, if i was a $ supporter i'd add it under my name

sometimes i use variations of my real name - Elizabeth

i always find it quite amuzing that members see us as online names or looking like our avatars, when i first posted a photo lots of people were surprised i had dark curly hair, maybe the name buttercup & avatar depict a blonde, or maybe its because i miss the obvious at times

G'day Buttercup... grin... no really. I'm very often totally out of it. Talking about the avs. I found some great ones around with dark hair and just didn't feel at home in them - maybe blondeness is part of my psyche. ... but it's too early to try and think an actual thought.. I'm trying to work out what the time is in Scotland. ... About 10pm??? I looked up a time converter yesterday to try and find future communications windows of opportunity between London, Florence, US Central and Eastern Oz - taking into account seasonal adjustments in both hemispheres. Both blonde hemispheres are still reeling.
