I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe we could start by listing what books we are reading now, and then choose some from there?

Or start with a classic or commonly known book. How about "Atlas Shrugged"?

Warsai,
I'm guilty of not making time to read a good book recently!

Too bad. From what I understand there are a few people in 'Religion' forum quite interested in clock building! Or was that an allusion already?
I'll have to opt out, all my current books are of the "Carpenter's tricks and tips" ilk. Good Luck.

Probably will have limited interest since he's not for everybody but on the possibility that someone has read him -- would suggest :
All fiction - but very intertaining and humerous.- The guy loves the english language and demontrates it profusely.
Author : Tom Robbins
Examples : Village Incognito
Skinny Legs and All
Even Cowgirls Get the Blues
Fierce Invalids from Hot Climates
Jitterbug Perfume
Interest anyone ? I'd be happy to discuss any one of these.

I'm not going to list any books either, all mine are either nursing related or teenage books, just had this conversation with my dad and we believe I still prefer reading teenage books because of my dyslexia.

Books I've recently read (within the past 3 months):
Shogun, by James Clavell.
Tales of the Otorii (books 1-3), by Ian Hearn.
Eaters of the Dead, by Michael Crichton.
The Cult of Mac, by Leander Kahney.
The Five People You Meet in Heaven, by Mitch Albom.
The Rule of Four, by Ian Caldwell and Dustin Thomason.
Pompeii, by Robert Harris.
I suggest Pompeii as a book for discussion. It is a very good read, and may provoke some interesting discussions.
Alternatively, the Rule of Four would also be a good novel for discussion.

Here's a couple I'd suggest, I've not read them yet, but have them in my TBR stack:
Housekeeping by Marilynne Robinson
What I Loved by Siri Hustvedt
To Hawke, I wanted to say that I loved Clavell's "Shogun" series. I read those years ago and they have stayed with me to this day.

I'm reading 'The Secret Purposes' by David Baddiel. An intriguing novel about early Jewish history in England in the 1940. Abacus Books

I would like to suggest a book by Melissa Tharp. The title is: Innocence Stolen. This book is dedicated to the author's daughter and based on a true story of domestic abuse and rape.
