Thank you.
Very sound advise Snooze! :-6

Now....get your butt back to posting and make me laugh, K???? :D

And Clancy....If you read this, get back to posting too, will ya? :)

Well I have noticed that tempers have escolated somewhat over the last few weeks, but I guess that that is to be expected, as we are all intitled to our own views. All I would hope is that people don't judge someone just by a simple point that someone else has made, and to not start a big arguement and debate over something that is so unnecessary. I mean if u disagree with something that someone has said, then fine, we all do that, but at least be constructive in your critisism, rather than just calling them all the names under the sun. That would just be offensive and cause yet more problems, which solves nothing.

I personally try and get on with anyone, regardless of their beliefs. So even if I have a completely different point of view on something, I would still find the time of day, to say hello and talk to u about other things. :)

And start making me laugh again too, snooze. I can be a bit of a grump at times and your witty posts can make me laugh out aloud.

So, come on...please?

Your not wrong Snoozy. I for one am avoiding certain topics at the moment....sticking to the 'flippant' and 'comfortable stuff' and I have noticed that certain people are not posting at all. I guess that they may be having 'time out' whereas I am just staying in a 'safe zone'....for now.:-6

You just keep posting and making us smile and making us think....be yourself ;)

My thoughts exactly. You know we could do with a happy thread, where only nice, happy, fun stuff can be posted, and somewhere where anyone can enjoy after a bad day.

Sometimes you can't resist getting into a stern debate. It's good to pick your fights carefully. Even if you get strongly opinionated about something- against someone else's equally strong opposite opinion, it's a challenge to our maturity and creativity to find a way to make our point without personally attacking the other writer.

I'm a big liberal- yet some of my closest and most loved friends are big conservatives- and we generally avoid talking about politics. So even when I find myself diametrically opposed to another gardener, and it's getting hot, I always feel that if not for circumstances, this person could be my close friend.

A friend of mine who lives in the wine country told me about when he was invited to a private wine tasting party among vintners. He worried about what wine to bring because he did not produce any and did not know much about wine, and was afraid to have the wine he brought becoming an embarrassment to him. Someone had brought to the party some cheap wine from the grocery store. To my friend's surprise, rather than condemn or criticize it, the vintners all found something positive to say about every wine- even the cheapie. Their attitude was that there was no such thing as a bad wine.

Some opinions are just plain stupid and evil. But some opinions I believe are quite bad are held by some people whom I regard as essentially very good people.

I think that's excellent advice. Like the old saying - "It takes two to tango." One of the reasons I decided to join the Forum Garden was because of the huge variety of choice when it came to where you could post. Plenty of room for avoidance, if that makes sense. I think most folks can tell when things are getting heated. Maybe if we could step back from that point and move on to something else, we could avoid some of the "heat" that's been felt lately. Just a thought. :D

I'm not sure which is more harmful: the heated discussion, or the autopsy of the heated discussion. Maybe both are helpful.

All I know is that to succumb to pressure from others is to grant those others power over you. Be very discriminating about to whom you grant that power.
