Stuck for romantic inspiration with Valentine's Day just a week away?

Then consider llamas.

A charity with the slogan "get calmer with a llama" is offering romantic country strolls for the lovelorn, leading a llama together around the picturesque Lake District in northwestern England.

"Chatting over a llama is certainly a novel way to meet people in a relaxed environment, and participants can enjoy a romantic picnic afterwards -- carried by the ever obliging llamas in their backpacks," said owner Mary Walker.

Walker, whose Lakeland Llamas charity helps the disabled, is keen to assure lonely hearts that contrary to their bad press, the South American relatives of the camel do not habitually spit at or bite people but are in fact friendly and docile.

They forget to mention that llamas like to spit.

Awww... I like Llamas... although, I wouldn't necessarily want to get an actual Llama as a gift or anything... :-3 and camels aren't even that bad... in fact, the only experiences I've had were with donkeys in Egypt, rather than the camels I rode. Oh, and I once had a run-in with a giraffe... :wah:

When I was a kid, my neighbor took in a pregnant female llama once in awhile. Apparently their friend, a llama farmer was having trouble with coyotes coming into the ranch at night and eating new babies. So my neighbor would take the mother in and she would give birth safely and the baby would mature a bit before being sent back to the ranch. The thing is, my neighbor didn't really want much to do with it and I, being a young 10 yr old girl desperate to have a horse was thrilled with the arrangement! I can still remember taking Priscilla all over the neighborhood, walking her, showing her off, feeding her... and experiencing the miracle of her baby's birth one morning. Yes, llama's are very sweet creatures.
