We got a new adult cat about 2 months or 6 weeks ago. Heck, I don't remember - she was a rescue. We got over the fighting with the house cat and dog and everything seemed OK. I noticed that dirt was being kicked out of a VERY LARGE house plant and immediately suspected new cat of doing her thing in the plant. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOO. I would sweep up the dirt from my very old hardwood floor (it needs sanding or replacement) and put it back in the plant. WELLL today - to my horror!!!!!!!! I swept up the dirt and realized new cat was pissing in the dirt she threw out of the plant. There was black mold growing on the OLD hardwood floor. I put wire over the plant so there would be NO MORE DIGGING.
My question. I put baking soda on the floor first.............should I go straight to Clorox and scrub the bejeesus out of the area and put more baking soda? I absolutely DO NOT want this mold to spread. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mold needs moisture. I don't know how humid your area is, but cleaning it with a bleach solution should do the trick.

I"d repot your plant too with fresh soild. Cat's urine can kill a plant quicker than round-up.

Thanks for the other posts. This is the kind of thing that makes me want a cat to get cancer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,OK yeah - I've just opened myself up to the animal lovers.
The cat has not pee'd anywhere since the wire wrap on the plant.
