Man Charged With Assault After Shaving Girlfriend's Hair

WARREN, Mich. -- A 22-year-old Michigan man will stand trial on a domestic violence charge.

James Garvin is accused of shaving off his 18-year-old girlfriend's eyebrows and nearly waist-length hair.

The judge dismissed a more serious kidnapping charge against Garvin after Nicole Carter denied that Garvin held her against her will. Carter said what happened between them last month was consensual. The domestic violence charge carries up to 93 days in jail on conviction. Kidnapping can bring up to life in prison.

Investigators said Carter went to Garvin's house in Warren, Mich. She later called her grandmother, who came to the house with police.

"She came out with no coat on ... two black eyes and no hair," said Joan Yurisich, Carter's grandmother.

Garvin's lawyer said the charges are without merit.

I read another news story about it... she snubbed her own family to sit with the boyfriend's at the trial and claimed she did it to herself. And she only had a black eye after she had been punching him and he retaliated.

Poor girl, obviously no self esteem, but worse no self respect.

To get bit on wasn't her fault, but to sit and smile about it and stick with him then Sorry girl. She needs to boil her brain because the one she has was obviously shallow fried :-5

Arghh If someone shaved my head I thinking Nair on the family jewels would teach them a lesson.

As for the girl, what a nitwit to thumb her nose at her family and stay with the jerk. I mean I kinda feel bad if she doesn't have the self esteem. But you can't ignore your family or they may not be there the next time you need help.

classic behavior of abused women. they stay with, and defend their abusers for various reasons. it's very difficult to get many of them to testify against the abuser, or even sign a complaint, which is the reason we no longer need them to sign a complaint if we feel there's been physical abuse. we can just go ahead and arrest.
