Just found this place and it looks kinda friendly. I'm an aussie with a bit of attitude, who enjoys travel, hiking, skiing, swimming in the sea (keeping an eye out for sharks - grin), flute playing. And cooking - lots of asian food, and I got an Italian pasta maker for Chrissie. Chinese New Year coming up - and it's my resolution for the Year of the Dog to make some new online friends. So here I am, smiling at you all.
(This is an edit. I noticed the 'junior member' listing under my name - does this mean I'm really still a kid after all (hee hee) or is it just a reflection of my newbie forum status????)

Hi Clancy (in the kilt!! Now I like a Scotsman meself even if they show more leg than is sometimes seemly!), mrsK, Lon - it's great to meet you all! I've gotta go see how I can get a flag - with Australia Day coming fast upon us, I feel I should fly one - and clean up the barbie too! Last barbie I had got rained out - but it was warm rain, and nice to dance in anyway..

What an awesome welcome! Thankyou Chonsigirl, BettyBoop, Sojourner, Greydeadhead, Accountable!!! Where do I find this pub ya mentioned, Sojourner? Hey and aussie who can't find a pub!!! Is that a contradiction in terms? Accountable - Dawggoneit - you're a tall tall Texan - I've been to Texas - in fact just outran a twister there once, with the help of an experienced Oklahoman. Man, was that terrifying. We were driving along, having survived that gigantic steak place, minding our own business when the sky suddenly got really dark, and there black finger like things kind of were touching the ground on three sides of us. Up ahead there was a bit of light then lots of hail.... geeeesch.... Gimme a sea full of sharks any day. Greydeadhead - now that's an interesting name for a fine agile mind. Grin. I just happen to have brought a case of Fosters with me - anyone for a cold tinnie?

"A lot of personality" - I think that is American for "this shiela squawks like a sulphur crested cockie up a gum tree"!! Hey, is SnoozeControl really 103 years old, female, kilted and camping out in Utah snow? One tough woman, I'll try to keep on her good side.
Seriously, folks, thank you - Lady cop, Accountable, Nomad, StupidCowboyTricks, SnoozeControl, FarRider, Betty Boop, Chonsigirl, tmbsgrl, Clansy, mrsK, Lon, St Ives, Sojourner and greydeadhead - for your warm welcome. Much appreciated. As I wrote in the pub, if I'd carefully read loads of posts before leaping in boots and all, I'd have been struck silent in the presence of so many brilliant, stylish, beautiful, articulate, hard drinking fellow gods and goddesses. Hic.
This desert island caper, Nomad, does it involve nude bathing in shark infested waters, contemplating the sands of time, drinking only pina coladas.. I mean, can I bring my ipod and computer, my rubber duckie, the handsome bronzed lifeguard called Brian I met at Manly beach last week, um... food supplies, Bothwell and his booze store .....?????

Hi Aussie,
Are there any more bronzed life gaurds around Manly beach?, I might have to take a trip down there, it used to be one of my favorite beaches when I lived in Crows nest.
Nice to see another Aussie around, there are quite a few of us now.

Hi Orangesox1! I'm not that far from CrowsNest. Near North Sydney. I did take a pic of Brian (the name is made up - I'm prone to typos and once typed I was sufferening from 'brian overload' instead of brain...ya know.. and since then, any bloke I've mentioned in even faintly amorous tones has been nicknamed brian by my friends) - but could only find a doctored version. I used him once, grin, for a birthday webpage of a New York girlfriend, who got reincarnated somehow as a mermaid. Don't ask! Manly is a neat spot. I hit the sea there every weekend when I'm in Sydney (I wander about a bit). Nice to meet a fellow Aussie. I'm gonna hit the hay.. got an early start tomorrow, and I've spent far too much time basking in the cathode rays today... square eyed smile. G'night!

Nomad - you mean your name is Brian.....???!!!! SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON !!!
Pam fans herself and tries to suppress maidenly blushes
I must have really bent the elbow in here last night - can't remember getting up close and personal with Accountable's butt!! But I'll take his wife's word for it. I guess that counts as the second time I've been defeated by Texan beefsteak.
G'day Abbey - nice to meet you. What part of England do you live in?
SnoozeControl - I don't skeer easily (regularly wrassle a croc before brekkie) but you got me quaking. With or without a kilt, and with or without a tilt in the aforementioned kilt... the Abominable MarshMallow Woman is the stuff of nightmares ... arghghghghghghghg. I need a drinkie... purely for medicinal reasons. Bosworth - can I calll you Bossy? - can you line me up a coldie please?!! And while yer at it, it's my shout! Drinks for everyone!!!!

SnoozeControl - ever obedient, I did what you told me to... and came up with what I guess you knew I'd come up with - I cannot begin to tell you how devastated I am. How totally traumatised my hitherto innocent psyche now is. Even the thought of Abbey in the Goodies "Eckythump" land, cannot take from me the scar I shall henceforth and forever bear, deeply engraved on me blonde innards. I shall go seek solace in food - it is lunchtime - and sob my shock and shame into my skippy-burger.

G'day StupidCowboyTricks - I was reading about the kilt contest. And ya know the pic originally posted in the pub there of the the Scotsman who thinks he's Marily Monroe - well I scanned that years and years ago from an aussie newspaper and stuck it up on my first webpage. Wonder if that started its journey upon the internet.... what goes around comes around and all that... anyway - I rather like kilts, and shall encourage the wearing of the same. Now I really am going forth - into the daylight.................................... have a great weekend.
