I had the incredible experience yesterday of watching the Education Minister (Ruth kelly I think) answer the following question " Do you know how many registered sex offenders have been cleared to work in schools"!!!!!.

It transpires that a certain individual who had been placed on the register for being guilty of downloading child pornography had been given a position at a secondary (High School) school. The headmaster was aware of the offence but he in his wisdom determined the man was "Low Risk". Luckily the local police heard about the appointment and reported it to the local education board who forced the individual to resign.

These are the facts that led to the question. Ms Kelly then proceeded to promise "Full and frank discussions, focus groups etc" the BBc reporter was having none of it and kept repeating the question. The Upshot is that the government does not know how many registered sex offenders are working whithin the education system.

It would appear that Ms Kelly was directly responsible for this man getting that job. This registered sex offender was given clearance by Education Secretary Ruth Kelly to work as a teacher and he landed the job in a high school. It was only when the police protested that action was taken.

Apparently, Ms Kelly decided not to ban him because she apparently believed evidence he had accessed paedophile websites was inconclusive.

The sheer arrogance of this woman astounds me! Ms Kelly should be admonished for interfering in decisions which she has no right to - that of the legal processes of this country!!

Why, she is a star of the Blair government and is therefore genetically prgrammed to be arrogant. the disregard with which President Blair ignores both the laws and parliamnetary processes in the UK is astounding. I for one will be listening in to her statement in the house, I hope that not only Cons and Libs give her a shoeing but hopefully some of her own side as well, at least we still have the notion that ministers must answer to the house.

Why Ms Kelly hasnt been sacked or forced to resign is another farse .
