I am not very PC savvy so please bear with me.I have friend who has cerebral palsy.She is confined too a wheel chair.She loves her PC and doing things with it.It's about all she has.her motor skills are shaky at best.She has a key board that only allows her too hit one key at a time and a large baseball sized ball for a mouse.But what she needs is a way too have more than one CD ROM too put in her drive.Right now she can only put in,then remove it and put another in.This is near impossible for her.And has too wait for me or a aid too change it too a program she wants.she loves too do projects and lots of other things with her PC,and is truly a great person.So I am searching for some sort of set up like a multiple CD changer for a PC.Surely something is out there?

My challenge too you is if you have any ideas or links that might help let me know.even if it is a long shot.Think about it.

You will eed someone who knows what they're doing to do this. It is also dependent on what type of PC your friend has. Otherwise, it should be possible to install up to three drives in the machine (if there's enough space for them). Alternatively, it possible to set up an USB hub and connect external (PC) drives with USB connectors to the hub.

Also, why not go for DVD rewriters. They can hold a lot of data and are relatively cheap now.

I have no idea what OM just said...........but I am sure OM knows of special computer things for the physically handicapped. I have heard of them and maybe your friend can get them through her insurance.

You mean they still don't make multiple CD changers for PC??? That would've been my suggestion.



added: Contact Dell or somebody like that directly. maybe they can help.

thank you all,you are being very helpful.You would think someone would have thought of this by now.I have spoken with staples,office depot,best buy,dell,hp,compaq,and got no help.Her PC is a hp.multiple external drive might be the way,but she has too pick three or four Cd's she want in them.And i will check into DVD rewriters.I anyone has anything else let me know.

I might have an idea, but I'm almost sure you need to have a good techie skill for it.

Why not attach a seperate "tower" onto her wheelchair? You would most likely need something that is strong enough to hold it up. I already understand how you would change the discs. Perhaps like a jukebox style changer? On her arm rest, have a certain set of numbers (1 - 5 etc) and buttons.

Press the button for the disc you want, a "claw" or some other type of hand that can grab the disc safely without damaging it. Grabs the disc, puts it carefully into the CD-ROM and then hit execute.

I'm not entirely sure on how it would work fully, or what wires you need to connect to her computer, but I will research on it and then let you know. If you want ofcourse.
