Well, I did my IQ ladycop and I got 129, which is an average of 3 different tests on different site. Now apparently that means that I'm highly intelligent, (which is nice) but not a genius, (which is somehow reassuring). In fact I am quite pleased and did much better than I thought I would, as generally I am a bit slow at puzzles, though better now I realize than I thought, just lazy I guess. However, apparently 160 means that you are a genius, so from now on, I am coming to you for advice. :wah:

Actually I have to say that these test are interesting and thought provoking, though a lot of these website seem to charge you, though I found some that are free, and you don't have to use your real email or anything to register your results. I would advise people to try them as they are fun and educational! Though they do state that they are not strict intellgence tests, but are a good indicator of how bright you are in certain areas.

I have been 150 - 170 on the different ones I went to. It just means I have math, verbal and science abilities on the tests. I scored well on the spacial stuff too. As far as I'm concerned.........it doesn't mean SQUAT when it comes to dealing with life. I have seen some very IQ high people who can't deal with life and I have seen some lower IQ people who are great at life. I really think it depends upon the persons thirst for education ...or.... their thirst for knowledge. How does any person apply -what they learn through education and/or what they learn through life - without an intimate knowledge of themselves?

I agree with NV. Always scored high on mine, but I think it all evens out in the end. I think I lack some of the common sense thinking abilities, mechanical abilities, and I draw a pretty mean stick figure in art class!

And honestly Galbally, you're leagues ahead of me in smarts... you're a freaking genius! I think you should make at least one more attempt, I think you'd score much higher.

No, I don't think so, I think I have a lot of aquired knowledge, but in general thinking terms I think 130 or whatever is where I would be, I mean I'm not knocking myself, its not exactly stupid is it? I'm a proud 129er! And I'm not surprised that your score is similar to mine as I think we are quite similar snooze, mostly thats lookswise though! Actually most of the people on the boards (though there are exceptions) would seem to be quite bright and thoughtful, if not always very interested in intellectual things, but thats not everything is it?

Oh Snooze, I believe it.

Mine is 164, but like I said, I don't have the smarts in other ways. Diferent types of IQ tests make the scores different, whether the tests are spatial, or verbal. I score higher on spatial, and lower on verbal.

This is a lively thread, I didn't think that people would be so interested in the IQ thing, but it is interesting I suppose to test yourself. Perhaps we should have a secret poll (if thats possible) to determine the median, mean, maximum, and minimum IQs of the FG people. And seriously I'm not being modest, I think 129 is a flippin good score, and I for one am happy with the validity of the tests in general, though I don't think they really tell you how intelligent you are, but illuminate the ways in which you think and work out puzzles, which is probably the best indicator of your problem sovling, numerical, language, and spatial skills, but again there is more to general intelligence than that. Its probably impossible to really quantitatively state how intelligent people are, you just go on what they do and say, and how useful and insightful their ideas and actions are I suppose. Oh well.

Gal that is just a number. it caused me a lot of grief as a kid, i was supposed to be perfect and of course was not. it only applies in certain areas, for example i can read 600 words a minute, but i can't work the phone that has all the thingies. doofus with fine motor skills. i had a hell of a time with my gun, breaking it down and putting it back together. then there's emotional intelligence. the tests are really biased. if you're a reader you will do well. my dad was a bona fide genius, and i know 5 others, Bothwell is one. and you are clearly brilliant.

Thanks lC, but I'm really not worried, in fact I'm happy, I don't see how getting 129 on an IQ test is bad, I think its great, better than what I thought I would get, like I said, my puzzle side has always been a bit poor, so it was good to get into doing one of these things. On a side note I would advise caution when doing them as they all look for email addresses and some of them are for money, and you know that if you pay for things, they will usually tell you what you want to hear as long as your keep on paying the money. It would be fun to do a cotrolled IQ test with a supervisor, as it would be more accurate (and harder I guess) so if that opportunity comes up, I will try it.

I did several online Iq tests and scored between 120 and 130, and even sometimes above. Though I doubt they are really reliable. they often like to make you feel good to make you enthoustiastic for something ;)

I had one official IQ test taken and it scored lower the results were 118 IQ 114 EQ

though it is also just an score of how I was and felt at that moment, the result may be different (higher or lower) next time. It is just an indication.

Also I think IQ and wisdom are two different things.. I care more about wisdom, but perhaps that is just to compensate that I can't accept that my IQ is not higher as 118 :)

Anyway it is not important, important is to use the tools that you do have in a most effective way, and it does not matter if your IQ is 80 or 160 .. I have seen people with an 160 IQ go crazy thinking and thinking so much trying to understand everything, and they became un happy

I have seen people with an IQ of 80, not thinking so much accepting the things around them, using thier tools in a most effective way to deal with thing that are coming to them...

One may be smart, another one may be wise :) though best would be to compare both, well not best, ideal I guess is a better word...

157 - It's Genius level for me.

I tested into a genius class in high school, a mentality that has only been sharpened since then by three college degrees (two in Electrical Engineering, and one in Education) stints in the Air Force as a fighter pilot instructor and the corporate world as an international training division head.

Both my parents are teachers, my mother taught English and my father was a Physics professor. Now I teach Mathematics and English both. I joke that I never had the choice to be dumb.

BTW - I.Q. is NOT how smart you are. It is merely the rate at which you learn. There are magnates of business without even a high school diploma who understand reams about the world on both a literal and a concrete level. They've educated themselves by reading.

There are also genius-level I.Q. men working in the oilfields slinging pipe in the cold. They can pick up information fast, but due to a lack of training, reading, and education they are not knowledgable.

Just watched that Matt Damon movie about the Brothers Grimm. The assistants were mad that they were doing all the work and only getting 1/10th of the take. It went something like:

Matt: "What are you saying?"

A: "We want double."

B: "Yeh, we want a twentieth!"

A: "Each!"

Matt: "You men really have me over a barrel. Okay. Done!"
