Are you afraid?

I'm trying to work out how hysteria and fear are manifested in our communities. Can anyone tell me what you fear in your society? or tell me a story of being scared or confined? Does religion or prejudice keep you safe from these fears?
Can anyone help?
Thank you x

Hmmn, fear eh? Well I can't say that I fear nothing at all, though its been a long time since I was really afraid or in fear of my life or anything. I got mugged in Dublin in the 90's and a junkie split my head open with a brick from behind, I didn't really have time to be afraid really, but I was fairly annoyed with all scumbags for a good few weeks afterwards and was well up for hanging around some methadone clinic and clocking some b*stard in the jaw, but I calmed down. Thats not really being afriad though is it, but its all part of the same instinct I think. Come to think of it, it was fairly tense in Paris when I was there earlier this year, and when your in a foreign country you are always a bit more unomfortable if there is a bit of aggravation going on, cause you don't really know whats what.

I've become afraid of people getting into my car. I think it started with those darn urban legends at school and was made worse by email forwarding. Now when it's dark and I leave my car for any reason I'm always really nervous as I check and double check the back seat and underneath for some strange person with a weapon!

Thanks for all the replies,
i do appologise for posting such an odd first post - the reasoning behind it is that i'm researching the subject of fear for a uni project that i have written. i do graphic design and am creating a magazine. hope that is a bit more clear!:)
