I've been browsing the forum for something to do and thought I'd register as it looks like a fun place.

Hello John and welcome to the forum. You should indeed find it good fun and a good place to go for chats and information. All types gather here for the common purpose of discussing life, the universe and everything. Look forward to doing the same with you.

I like music, rock mainly but all sorts of styles really, reading, visiting pubs and resturaunts, working hard to pay the bills and mortgage.
One of the above was false, guess which?

There seem to be a few rockers here, including myself (though my taste for music has spread considerably over the years). Which is your favourite era for music?

Seventies probably.
And the Nineties, and now I guess.

Yeh, i do like 70s rock. I tend to compare anything I hear now to that era. Prejudice of age I guess, but at least I'm aware of the bias. But you don't hear the likes now, such as it is, I think the rock of the 70s was more innovative. Everything you hear now is derived from that period. Having said that, Pink Floyd was originally a jazz band from the 60s. And much of 70s rock had its roots in jazz, blues and rock and roll from the 60s. Interesting how music develops.
Age has made me more appreciative of good music and now I can sit back and enjoy a range of styles (and can even confess to liking some of the stuff my parents listened to!!!)
If it's good, it's worth appreciating.
Sorry, mate, I'm rambling on a bit here (another sign of my age:D )

The Eighties is strange.
I couldn't stand a lot of the stuff at the time but now find myself liking it when I hear it now.

One band came out of the 80s that I enjoy listening to and admire. They promoted there own stuff and never used record companies. Even now they still produce and distribute there own material. Ozric Tentacles. Not very well known, but the music is superb if you're into that style. The style? You'd have to listen to them. Not sure what their style is called.

I bet it was pretty hard to pick up girls if you had the Black Death. This seems like a good conversation opener upper.
Also in the USA we use John Doe to call dead guys we cant identify. Your not a dead guy are you ? I hope not cause that would just be creepy.

A friend of mine used to have some of their albums, I used to listen to them quite a lot when I went round his place for a drink and whatever but can't remember much of it due to the consumption at the time lol.:wah:

[Makes personal note for future use - dead man John Doe drinks to oblivion and cannot remember a thing except going to specific venue.]
Rectification of this anomoly would be to return to said venue without alcohol.
