We're FINALLY going into fall even though it's October. It's been so hot at the beach!! Imagine at this time to be 90 degrees F and a few days later to be 50 degrees....Turned on the heat today...yuk....

Kathy, there are four school terms here, with a two week break between terms one and two and three and four, and a longer break between term two and three - at least three weeks. The school year here starts in early February and runs through till just before Christmas - when the long summer holidays start (from about 20 Dec to early Feb). This means the school year is the same as the calendar year, unlike in the States.

The coming Monday is the start of the final term of the year. D loves school and is looking forward to seeing his friends again, and his teacher - who got married last weekend.

It was pretty warm in Sydney - we were swimming there. And it was summery, in an early sort of way. In Canberra, it's very much still spring - this morning was freezing (literally), and we put on the fire.
