I'm nearly all ready for my first day back at work and I'm determined to try and make this day the first day of my new life. Not quite sure what I mean by that but it feels good to say it.

I won't be one of the crowd of maybe two or three waiting to greet HM at the airport. It's not for me to criticise the monarchy of another country but HM is still officially Queen of Australia and head of our armed forces (and she wasn't even on our side when the French were testing nasty bombs in our neck of the woods). An anachronism and an embarrassment which most aussies try to forget by totally ignoring her. If Charlie ever takes over... we'll be a Republic in an instant.
