My little boy is in Tae Kwon Do classes and he passed his first belt cycle, so he gets his new belt tonight. It is white with a yellow stripe. Some schools go straight from white belt to yellow belt, but this one has more belts for them to earn. He's six and very excited. When he passed his testing, mommy cried.....WE worked really hard! Yellow belt is next and then white with a green stripe, then green, then white/orange, then orange and after that, I've lost track.....I think purple????

We have some of the forms, kicks, blocks and hits on a tape that he can watch after class. That way his dad and I can make sure he is practicing the right way. I've learned a little bit but not enough to do anything with it. I can shout "UTZ" really loud though!

I spent today with my daughter in Brighton. We went to a Buddhist meeting and met some wonderful people.

WE had a coffee, walked along the seafront in the sunshine and talked and talked....simple pleasures, but worth a million dollars....

I was complaining about the cost of gas and medical bills and my weird food cravings the other day and when I got up The Boyfriend had sneaked $50 under my cell phone with directions to buy weird any snack food I wanted and "extra love" for myself.

Later in the day I opened a fortune cookie and it said that a romantic and financial gift would surprise and delight me. How true! :-4

From the look of things, they'd better build the 6000 seater with a removeable back wall for future expansion!

Saw my 'little cowboy' today...he is sooooo gorgeous. My son is self employed and today is the first whole day that he has been able to spend with him since he was born 6 days ago...no paternity leave for those who work for themselves. Family and friends are out to 'wet the babys head' tonight......men only...many hangovers tomorrow !!! :D

I know some of you will think I'm mad, but I've had a really good day today.

I've let the housework go a bit lately beacuse I've been feeling a bit 'blue' and let all the christmas stuff stress me out.....anyway, I got up early, put on my happy head and 'blitzed' the house from top to bottom and now it sparkles...

At 12 0.clock, my little angel, baby Lewis was parked with me while his mum got on with some Christmas shopping....he slept (as babies do) had his bottle and a kickaround on the floor and settled in my arms while I watched 'the Snow Queen' which was really quite sad (happy ending though). In a minute I'm going do a pile of ironing and then watch TV.... sounds all very mundane, but I like 'normal' on a Sunday...it's kind of satisfying somehow.

Hope you've all had a great day...:-6

An Irish Letter

Dear Son

I'm writing this letter slow because I know you can't read fast.

We don't live where we did when you left home.

Your dad read in the newspaper that most accidents happen within 20 miles from your home, so we moved.

I won't be able to send you the address because the last Irish family that lived here took the house numbers when they moved so that they wouldn't have to change their address.

This place is really nice. It even has a washing machine.

I'm not sure it works so well though: last week I put a load in and pulled the chain and haven't seen them since.

The weather isn't bad here. It only rained twice last week; the first time for three days and the second time for four days.

About that coat you wanted me to send you, your Uncle Stanley said it would be too heavy to send in the mail with the buttons on, so we cut them off and put them in the pockets.

John locked his keys in the car yesterday. We were really worried because it took him two hours to get me and your father out.

Your sister had a baby this morning; but I haven't found out what it is yet so I don't know if your an aunt or an uncle.

The baby looks just like your brother....

Uncle Ted fell in a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to pull him out, but he fought them off playfully and drowned.

We had him cremated and he burned for three days.

Three of your friends went off a bridge in a pick-up truck.

Ralph was driving. He rolled down the window and swam to safety.

Your other two friends were in back.

They drowned because they couldn't get the tailgate down.

There isn't much more news at this time. Nothing much has happened.

Love, Mum

P.S. I was going to send you some money but the envelope was already sealed.

The day started badly...got up late...headached...typical monday. Then....guess what...I discovered I had an extra day before Christmas. I had it in my mind that Friday was Christmas Eve ...I checked my Outlook Calendar at work for todays meetings and there it was CHRISTMAS DAY IS ON SUNDAY.

When I got home I had a letter from Belfast, Ireland. Inside was a Fukusa. This is a special 'wrapper' about the size of a ladies handkerdhief (remember them) which the Japanese use to wrap 'special' things in. They are made from soft material, sometimes silk and we use them to wrap round our Juzu (prayer beads), these are then kept in a purse made out of soft material. This was a lovely gift from a lovely lady I met on a Buddhist Forum.

My son is popping in to see me soon and bringing little Lewis, so today has really turned out to be not so bad after all.
