Forget CNN, FOX and the others. I'm staying tuned in to Garden News.

the aftermath is worrying the city officials as well, there could be no water, no power, no amenities at all for weeks. not to mention sewage and the potential for disease. andrew is very fresh in my mind, the days following were a nightmare.

It will be a terribly long process to rebuild - no doubt. Hopefully they will keep the evacuated people out until some of the amenities are under control.

That's a report on the specs of the roof covering and what happened during hail and what they expect during wind. Personally, I think it's anybody's guess when dealing with something of this magnitude.

was teasing her that I was gonna come stay at her house for the next

Super Bowl!!) and I hope she is evacuated.

Think it's 'bout time for me to hit the blood bank...

I'm scared to death this time. The predictions for the amount of casualties and dead is astronomical. I'm generally a positive type of person but this is really scaring the **** out of me. And while there is New Orleans, this thing is huge...the surrounding states are also at very high risk and are expecting a lot of damage and casualties.

I can't imagine, sitting there, waiting for this thing to hit. Knowing that very likely, everything you knew will not be there. :(

i've been through about 12 'canes. that fear is palpable. last year when we had 4 back to back i was actually shaking for days. we cannot evacuate. i felt certain i was going to lose everything i owned, items like family photos, keepsakes, simply everything, my books and music...things that may seem inconsequential perhaps. but i swear nothing i have ever confronted in the street ever scared me so much. it's a gut-wrenching fear. my heart is going out to those people who have seen their homes for the last time tonight. :-1

I also start thinking of all the things, in New Orleans especially, the

historical stuff that will be lost to this. Those French Quarter buildings

and stuff.

And the people! I watched a lot of news footage on people filing in to

the Superdome, it looks bad already.

I can't imagine. With earthquakes we don't know until they happen.

To be a poor person unable to evacuate... awful.

I'm going to wax here on my very first visit to New Orleans. It was on my senior trip in HS. I broke all the curfew rules. The sponsers were worried about my safety. I was doing a spiritual trip with the natives and did not make the ferry. I did get back to the hotel with a person who took me on an historcal/voodoo trip through the French Quarter. It was fascinating and non-sexual. I did apologize to the sponsers but never regretted being a part of the French Quarter - if only for 12 hours. We had to write about our experiences there as part of our senior graduation. I got top honors for for my essay. When I look back I would never put the sponsers through that - I was 16 at the time.

The Mardi Gras procession goes right by my Nieces house so they can watch from the garden. The kids love it. I am chanting for their safety ....if you wonder why I'm chanting, I've just started to practise Buddhism, encouraged by my daughter who has been practising for 9 years.....anyway that's another story.

As Dave Allen (Irish Comedian (the best)) used to say...."may your Gods go with you"

Watching it on the news, I cannot understand how these newscasters can stand out there, saying and showing how bad it is getting. There's not enough money in the world to make me risk my life that way.

You're not a guy - or an adrenaline junkie. This is their chance to shine. they get the national exposure their careers need. If it goes well, they might get to go to a war zone! Whoopee? :-2
