STRESS!!!!!!!!!! Americans think they want to be self-sufficient in all ways & that is crap. We are all over-worked & underpaid. Most of our workers barely get any vacation that is worthwhile to their mental health. We're worried financially, ALL the Time!

Contrast that with our politicians insisting Americans are 'special'. Exceptionalism, it's called. I remember George W. having a 'town hall'. A woman was saying she had to hold THREE jobs to make ends meet. Prince George complimented her on being a good, true American.

We're all schmucks, & you know what? We pay a terrible price of our mental health. We don't have enough time with our kids. We drink & drug to forget.

It is a very hard privilege to be American.

I don't see it as being humourous at all. I see it as a valid point. The more PC might claim it to be that they are victimised because of racism. I'm streetwise & know of quite a few of the local drug dealers. Nearly all of them are Black / Asian. That is not Racism. That is fact. While it may be more likely that a Black person might get pulled over than a White person that is more likely to be due to the fact that Police Officers have a wealth of experience to draw upon & this experience generally has a high level of accuracy.

And it's attitudes like this which have made America what it is today.

To be fair, I find that people go by their own experience(s) as much as by what they read in the paper, or see on telly. Notwithstanding, America DOES seem to be in a mess with 'justice', and in particular prejudice, IMO. I wonder if they'll EVER strike an 'acceptable' balance?

I'm never quite sure what to make of 'stats'; they don't always tell the full story, though they are a guide. They're somewhat impersonal, IMO.

It requires a certain fluency with the appropriate arithmetic, nobody would claim statistics is intuitive.

That's probably why I struggle with 'em. Maths was never my 'strong suit', whereas I suspect it's probably yours, judging from the way you plotted (accurately) how many UKIP MP's would have got in last time under a PR voting system, not to mention your Heisenberg thingy!

There is a deep racial element in the collective American Psyche, but there's an additional element that's also frightening, and that is that the authorities have this notion that if you are treated badly enough by the system, you'll want to avoid dealing with it in the future. Scared Straight, it's called, and it's another bad decision on the part of the authorities. Behaving like thugs is not helpful in society, no matter who does it.

You are wrong. Whites (in the USA) are just as likely to have contraband on their person. Also, if caught, the punishment (for whites) is almost always lighter, or dismissed completely. 'specially for teenagers.
