Empathy was never one of my strengths.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.

It's interesting that in the case of abortion that the most empathetic person is the one choosing to terminate. Ironic, indeed! And quite accurate.

First of all, my comment about a duty to kill related to the medical profession as a whole, and it was intended to annoy people.

Secondly, my reasoned opinion about the value of people inverts the usual mantra. I do not regard a child at birth as more precious than, for example, a twenty year old. Nor do I regard it as more worthy of life, or valuable. The investment, emotional and in time, that has gone into the creating of that twenty year old, far outstrips whatever potential may exist in the newborn baby. Failing to have developed that twenty year old to its highest capability annoys me a lot more than abortion.

Failing to have developed that twenty year old to it's highest capability annoys me a lot more than abortion. On the medical side of this issue, I would say It takes an awful lot of kindness and personal sacrifice to perform abortions. That is the testimonial account one receives from anyone who has had the procedure to my knowledge, and I've known a few. These doctors, nurses, assistants and staff are very courageous and caring people who understand personal sacrifice and the emotional turmoil that goes along with making such difficult decisions.

As you say, there's a long view to take when it comes to this issue and I'm personally grateful for and often times stand in awe of these individuals and their caregivers.

On a purely hypothetical situation, is there legally any difference between a woman terminating a pregnancy for some legitimate reason & then selling the remains of the foetus, and the woman who gets herself pregnant for the purposes of terminating the pregnancy so as to profit by the sale of the foetal remains?

No offence here, obviously it was a joke.

The shame I speak of is willfully believing a lie, and then adding to the shame by willfully repeating the lie.

I could say it might be stupidity too, and it no doubt is to a degree, however, to the extent that you shamelessly represent lies, you'd be so stupid that you'd hardly be capable of feeding yourself, and I believe you can do at least that.
