Then again........I remember as a young boy, a bit of a sickly wimp to be honest, I was picked on by the girl down the road.
What shame.... a girl could make me cry, I must have been 7 or 8 she was maybe 12 or 13, but after weeks of being pinched and pricked with thorny sticks, I rebelled and lobbed a large stone that hit her forehead and made it bleed.
I ran home frightened to death afraid of reprisals. Apart from a loud discussion at the front door between our mothers, as I quivered under the kitchen table, there was no come back.
I was able to play without fear, plus I had a spring in my step.
It is not always that simple though.
