I agree with you there, kaz ! The terrible things human beings inflict on their fellow human beings is indescribable.

There's a chap called by Tom Springfield who wrote a couple of tracks for The Seekers that I find difficult to get through...

I find that first one difficult to get through but not for sad reasons.

In my early teens my parents and this lad's parents decided that we would make a good match. We were all invited "to tea" and Michael and I were persuaded to go off to his bedroom to play records. Our love interests lay elsewhere and we had nothing to talk about. I think the record was at number one in the charts and we just kept playing it, both wishing we were elsewhere with other people.

Cringeworthy (for me, anyway).

Not the best recording conditions - just a little desk mic sitting in front of the comp, guitar in hand.

A total FourPart original - Written, Arranged & Sung by Yours Truly (originally as a Musical Suicide Note).

One that I always related to is Solitude

You might think that, being by Black Sabbath it would be loud but you'd be very surprised :-

"Solitude"

My name it means nothing

my fortune is less

My future is shrouded in dark wilderness

Sunshine is far away, clouds linger on

Everything I posessed - Now they are gone

Oh where can I go to and what can I do?

Nothing can please me only thoughts are of you

You just laughed when I begged you to stay

I've not stopped crying since you went away

The world is a lonely place - you're on your own

Guess I will go home - sit down and moan.

Crying and thinking is all that I do

Memories I have remind me of you

This is one I've always loved - very emotive as well as visually moving in the video.

John Lennon's

Imagine

Sorry can't link it due to restrictions on work computer. But this song really points out the faults of man and todays society....

just this little snippet alone

"Imagine no possessions

I wonder if you can

No need for greed or hunger

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Sharing all the world..."

Honey ~~ Bobby Goldsboro

I was just a little kid when this song became popular and I thought it was immensely sad. I absolutely hated for it to come on the radio and in spite of all attempts at stoicism, it would choke me up. Why not just put a knife in my heart and be done with it?? Even today I consider it far too maudlin to listen to and would change the channel in a heartbeat should it come on the radio.

That's sweet, ZAP. It was a favorite of my Dad and although many artists have recorded versions, I posted Gene Autry because he was of the era of my father's youth.

Yeah, my dad used to play that and other songs on his harmonica to settle us kids down. Actually he was very strict so I think it was just because he liked to play. When he died my mom gave me his harmonica.
