Well, I can make a terrific pie. So can my wife.
And my niece makes the BEST Pecan Pie in the whole world.
We have family get-togethers covered.
The problem is when we are dining out, and we get these mealy mushy-crusted pies that are just not worth the energy to eat them.
The world deserves better.

Yes. It used to be like that. But then came an apple tree, a serpent, and one of your "sisters" who just couldn't leave well enough alone.

You don't have to have the pies you know.

We don't, but on occasion we will order pie for dessert. It has been a long time since we found a very good one.
In fact I can specifically remember the several places we have had a noticeably good pie, or other dessert, and when we are in that neighbor, we are likely to go back to a place because they had such a good dessert.

Actually, we have done such before.
I got a wonderful tour of Paris from a friend and his wife. Can't remember the names of the places, but I am confident that I could find them all again.

There's nothing quite like a sticky bun for afters at the NAAFI!
When's the last time you were in Paris?

2000. A German co-worker and I were driving about Europe training IBM support folks on how to troubleshoot and support our newest product. The Sydney Olympics were going on at the time.

I didn't know I was talking to a family of pie gourmands.

If you're fond of German pastry then you must try the simple but oh so delectable Spritzkuchen. It's just a bit of dough with a lot of puff (and a dab of sweet atop, if you prefer) but my Lord it is good!

You can spend points to change your name in the FG Shop. it's 5000 points for a change.

Something I'd like to see re-introduced are the bays of old cardboard boxes near the supermarket checkouts.
You may not realise it, but they're not allowed to do that any more because according to EU Regulations (where else) they are classed as 'Industrial Waste' & have to be disposed of accordingly at the retailer's expense.
Personally I think it would make more sense to instigate a law to MAKE them available to shoppers, as reusing cardboard boxes is far more eco-friendly than disposable plastic carrier bags.
Come to that, remember the days when everything was in a paper carrier bag, but if you wanted a stronger plastic carrier bag you had to pay for it? I know that there's been a bill passed now to charge a 5p tax on plastic carrier bags (which I'm in favour of btw), but it's not the same thing. I'd like to see PAPER carrier bags reintroduced - 100% recyclable.
