So true, but obviously, not so.

It is difficult to even get all the Southern Baptists to agree. And there are several major sects of the Muslim, not to mention, I would bet a whole lot of splits there. And how many different factions of Jews?

It is not hard to see why many people look at the world of religion and say, there is no God there.

I don't deny that research can be informative but objective/authoritative it is not, which is why I prefer the term "academic perspective."

Any hypothesis can be interesting, whether created out of thin air or thoroughly researched...it can spark the imagination and give rise to an infinite range of questions, most of which are unanswerable. Now, that is truly exciting.


I agree there can be many stories, that some of the stories can be demonstrated to be false and others to contain truth. Why should I not segregate those two categories and reject the demonstrably false (though quite possibly interesting) stories, as unhelpful lying?

Aesop doesn't describe reality, he provides insight into motivation. Fiction has its place. That place isn't a part of a statistical analysis of behavior in theaters of war.

When it doesn't accord with the known observations. Then it's an untrue hypothesis being told by someone who knows the evidence doesn't support it. A bit like tabloid journalism.

Small wonder then that the world seems to go in cycles and nothing new seems to happen, just history repeating itself over and over, in slightly different guises.

Snowfire, it's not if God is in it the little differences shouldn't matter......it's if Jesus is in it the other little differences shouldn't matter. According to our teachings Jesus is the only way into heaven.
