It was created during two religious upsurges - on coins in 1864, and on bills in 1957, and is, in fact, unsconstitutional based on the US Constitution's First Ammendment Free Exercise Clause. Or, it would be, had it been actually by the government. :)

It is issued by the Federal Reserve, which is not a government institution, but a private one, despite on popular belief in otherwise. It has its own non-government regulatory body, and is composed of twelve private banks and several trust funds.

Perhaps in the context of today it would be unconstitutional to take it off(The "In God We Trust" thing in case everyone forgot what the thread was about), no?

Yes I'm from Belgium, born in Brussels and now living mostly in Ghent for my studies. How come you think I'm American? :)

edit: if the 'look-part' is about my avatar: that isn't me, that's André Iguodala my favourite NBA-player ;)

Oh! see, I thought that was your picture! I don't really follow basketball, so don't know most players. Well then, he certainly looks American because he is! You don't write with an accent! ;-)

Where you from, fuzzywuzzy? Yup! God the State goes on killing people for violating his laws e.g. murder, rape, plunder, drug trafficking, etc.

The holy name, character, pastimes and activities of Kṛṣṇa ( God ) are all transcendentally sweet like sugar candy. Although the tongue of one afflicted by the jaundice of avidyā [ignorance] cannot taste anything sweet, it is wonderful that simply by carefully chanting these sweet names every day, a natural relish awakens within his tongue, and his disease is gradually destroyed at the root.
