No thief will venture into a yard or house if the DOG is barking.

Even if don't want the alarm thingy you can get the signs for it and also get a sign saying "beware of dog".

The brought 2 kittens only 3 weeks ago, the reason for that was because the hours that they both work, Sister in law is a Sister (Nurse) in a hospital and my Brother has his own window business. They both love Alfie and had said they would love a dog but it wouldn't be fair on it.:)

Thats the problem with human nature, it always makes people think the worst:thinking:

My Brother and SIL have gone through more 'what if's' than you can ever imagine, why should they be made to feel like 5hit cause someone went into their house and robbed them, why should they have to take car keys and purses to bed with them, why should they have to think that someone could have raped their Daughter or someone bumped them all off!

I post a thread here and people question and point out that the story is incredible, why? What makes you an expert in the field?

I know someone who works in CID Burglary division and he sees many cases each week, no one else seems to find the story incredible except for a couple of people here!

Well thanks for your opinion:rolleyes::rolleyes: and we'll leave it at that!!!!!!

it was very good of you guys to apologise , its my partner that is most upset , if you could see the kids terrified to go bed , the wife not wanting to be alone in the house and the husband upset beyond belief you would not joke about such things , there have been several houses broken into within a mile the police say its a professional gang , all same things taken , tv,s jewels and the car ,all unwired no wires cut , no mess made at all and the car taken using the owners keys ... the police said never ever take the car keys upstairs or hide them as the gang who are stealing the cars to order will then wake up torture the house owner to find the whereabouts of the keys ,then tie them up and then steal the car , the wife wants to move as the police told them the gang usually come back as they know once the insurance has paid up ,you will replace the stolen items :-5:-5

My suggestion much much earlier was a security system for them.

There are tons of security systems out there, we have ADT, its run on sensors on the windows and doors for 24.95 a month................we cannot have the regular sensored ones as we have cats that are moving around and would set the alarms off. To have ADT installed was free....we had to get this done as what previous neighbours had done to us.

I can imagine the fear..............I have been there.

and yes, apologies and then some.:-4

Had no idea as it wasn't mentioned, that these were gangs going around............I hope they catch these bastards!

I am so sorry for what your family went through, Suzy. You do feel like you have been violated. Hubby and I were burglarized a fews years ago on two seperate occasions. We were at work both times. To realize that someone has been inside you home without your permission and taken some of your posessions is a horrible feeling. We believe we know who the burglar was both time.....same person.........no proof. He's in jail waiting for trial on another crime......forging perscriptions. And...get this......he is related to hubby.......a nephew.

I am glad they were not physically harmed. The criminal element seems to be getting more desparate and brazen. It's a shame that we have to live our lives protectiong ourselves from them. We work hard for what little we do have. Makes me mad.

Just a suggestion for your family Suzy and anyone else that wants to take it up. I have a jewellery box in my bedroom, in it is the cheapest jewellery I have and all my costume jewellery - the rest is in a safe hidden elsewhere in the house, I also have written details of all the good stuff (and I'm going to take photos too) just in case that gets stolen.

Also in the safe is a copy of all the important stuff on the computer so if that gets nicked I still have what we need. All important bank details are in there too.

A safe isn't an expensive item especially when you consider the cost financially and sentimentally of you favourite jewellery.

I hope your brother and his family can find some peace after this, maybe moving house will be the only way they do.:-4

Thanks Immy, Mark has a safe bolted down in a cupboard, they didn't seem to find that or if they did they didn't attempt to move it.

That is the way to go though, taking pictures and writing down what you have and value, I will be doing the same with my jewllery this weekend.

Shame it takes something like this to make you realise how unprotected you are in your own home.

I have been thinking of you :-4

I dont find this news incredible at all! i have heard of people being burgled while they slept many times. My own sister who had let her insurance lapse was burgled once, an oppurtunist who just got in quick and took a couple of things. She had to suffer the indignity of insinuations from the police no less until she pointed out she had not renewed her insurance so had nothing to gain.

love to you and yours suzy:-4

Pictures, Videos and written documentation are your friend when it comes to documenting your stuff, it take time but well worth it.

Suzy I hope they can recover some of their belongings. There is no describing the anguish and fear that goes along with be robbed. I hope somehow they can find peace in their home again. :(

they sometimes do items on our local news about property thats been recovered and for people to come forward if they can identify their own stuff thats been shown,

the police always advize takin pics of things or marking it with a security pen.

just going back to folk being asleep.............. several breakins at a local holiday caravan park here this week. all done while the occupants where sleeping !!!
