Sheryl;759144 wrote: :wah::wah: Where in the world do you get the idea farmers are greedy? You haven't visited a family farm either have you. Let me tell you something, farmers are struggling right along with the rest of you. That's why we went out of farming, because it's to expensive, and with market prices, a farmer is lucky to break even. So before you go on your evil greedy farmer tirade, take a look at the facts. The only farms making money are the corporate ones, not the family farmer.

yep tis the same here Sheryl. Farmers struggle with big weather issues here if the weather blows the feed blows the cows die oo sorry ranchers, farmers if the weather blows the crops die, the farmer and his family suffer. The time spent harvesting a crop is crazy, here in this province it's a small span of time they have to work in due to our long winters (same for ranchers crikey imagine birthing season at -20C). Then you gotta consider all things like transport of produce and grain, those things just can't sit and wait for some truck to come by and pick it all up, they rot and foul. Yep I see your side Sheryl.

Sheryl, in my eyes farming is such a thankless profession. I think its hard work but rewarding for the farmer but not rewarding in wealth terms but for Agricultural and employment, Livestock, wildlife, the list is endless....

I cannot believe anyone would choose to go into farming "for the money" thats laughable to me, I live in a rural village and know many farmers, well they were farmers but alas have had to sell up as they couldnt manage finacially anymore.

My husbands best mate is a milk farmer and barely scrapes by but the business has been in the family for years, its traditional values and alot of the time has sentiment too.

I dont think all farmers are greedy but at the end of the day, a business is just that and we all have to make a living somehow.

I dont think we need cloned meat, animals are in abundance here, I dont want to eat cloned food thanks :-6

Sheryl,

I am so sorry that you and your family had to sell your farm. What a heartbreak that must have been for you. I have always felt so badly for "family farmers." You work such long hours and are literally tied to the farm. Then, in a puff of smoke, a bit of bad weather can destroy your livelihood.

My cousins Brigid and Martin own a farm in Co. Clare, Ireland raising cattle and sheep. They work day and night preserving the farm and rarely take a holiday or even a weekend off. They're just making ends meet. Brigid had to take a 2nd job to help pay bills.

Farming is a thankless job, and I appreciate all the farmer's hard work:-6

Thank you:-6

The scientist who first cloned an animal has abandoned the research in favour of other research. The point initially as to see of cells could be created to treat disease not to clone per se.

Because the likelihood of getting some weird disease.

There is also evidence that the clones will not live a normal life span.

the people that want to do this are the same nutters that think feeding animal protein to cattle is a clever idea. Just because some company tells you somethimng is safe doesn't mean you have to believe them or even that you should.

The EU are at it now as well

I can't see european consumers putting up with that one. GM foods got botcotted on a scale large enouigh to have them withdrawn from sale.
