I like the one about explaining, justifying yourself too. It's like always being on the defensive. It means you're acting from a position of weakness, demonstrating your own uncertainties. Very hard to learn that one. It's taken me forever, and I still get it wrong sometimes.

i think it was oscar wilde who said="the only genuine altruistic act is the spontanious laying down of ones life for an absolute stranger"....being a bloke of very limited state education i realy had to think hard about this one(once ifound out the meaning of altruistic)then when i understood it it meant i couldnt quite enjoy the anual visit to "skid row"on boxing days to hand out packages to the down and outs,i felt i was doing it to benefit me not them ,,oh well the out comes the same ,smiley tramps!

thanks pam ,ive left a few footprints in my time ,first time they have been called sunny ones but thatll do for me!

I was thinking of that, Chris, and the blonde brain did a kangaroo hop sideways...... I remembered walking in the bush near Rotorua in the North Island of New Zealand. Every foot print sank into the soft warm soil there and out of each depression came wisps of steam. Kind of freaky really. This unstable, thermal region.. smelling always a little of sulphur.

this all reminds me of the well known verse or call it what you will called "footprints"carolly tells me it was first written by a girl from os who lost the rites to it and it is now sighned annon.it is my absolute favorite peace of writing ever,and altho i have been described in certain circles as "a bit of a lad"it brought tears to my eyes when i was first given it as i was going thru a very dark period at the time.

I know the one you mean, Chris, and I'm glad it helped at a bad time.
