I'm sorry if I offended you, I consider you my friend and I know how devoted you are to animal welfare. My view on animals was developed from growing up in a farming community - animals were stock or a working tool not pets. It sounds hard and I don't mean to be, I do know how important pets are to their owners and how devastating it can be to loose them. However when CG is facing such a dire situation the death of an elderly pet seems way down the list of worse possible outcomes.

Immy, you haven't offended me and I am still your friend. :-6
I was just offering my interpretation of what CG meant. Or what I thought she meant. Only she knows for sure, right, but that was just how I took it. But you and I are fine. I'm sorry if I sounded harsh to you.

i have been reading through some of the post,i really do feel for CG. I cant pretend i even know what she is going trough. And i feel we are all here to offer her are support in one way or another.
But please CG please do not take affence when i say this ,but i feel if something like this is posted on such a sensitive subject you will leave yourself wide open to good and bad thoughts on this.
I just feel now what ever CG chooses what we should do is be there for her.Sorry to go on a soap box

I placed a laughing smilie, i thought it was funny, i still do. Your 'speak your piece & be done with it' & 'get over it' comments to me & Betty are somewhat aggressive in nature, any more of them directed at me may result in a problem, that however remains to be seen.
Rest assured Red when or if i do have a problem with you i will most certainly let you know about it. I tend to do this in the form of a pm rather than thread dramatics.

Funny Buttercup, when I looked again there was no laughing smiley and even if there were I doubt it would have mattered beyond actual content.
It's not my nature to be aggressive but I have no problems saying what I mean. I certainly hope that wasn't some kind of threat online because I'd be laughing if it were. You let me know privately then if and when you have a problem with me. Maybe you could have done that to start with.

Okay, I'm going to say it. Why would anyone be worrying about the friggin cat at a time like this. Until you get the kids sorted the cat should not even be considered in my opinion.

I don't need to flame you YZ, but I think it's a rotten thing for you to say and should have never been said. Don't even know why you would say such a thing. She's already stated clearly how much she loves her cat and how much the cat means to her and now she's going to see this. It's not a "friggin cat," it's her beloved pet.

Buttercup it sure looks to me like you put that smiley there in mockery of what I had said and not as a friendly gesture. We've both said our piece and if you're "chilled" then we can let it go as I'm feeling pretty fine myself.

I knew it would be you. No offense but I think her son is much more important. If I had the same troubles as her, I'm sorry but the cat would be the least of my worries compared to my child. My opinion and not trying to cause an uproar.

I have to agree with you here AF. Despite our thoughts and opinions CG is going through a rough time, what she may or may not say on here is not likely to be entirely clear, she is in distress. I don't think it's BS or that she is being Molly coddled, she has been offered up support. That is what some of us believe is needed.

I don't have a problem with you RG, just a problem with the fact that you are telling someone that is already on anti-depressants (I believe), and that has already suggested that they suffered from postnatal depression on their first child that they are not depressed! I'm just stunned that you can make such an assumption thats all!

I have bumped the Off Topic Thread instead of moving the large number of posts from here that are discussing how FG members should react to CG and her recent threads.
This thread should now just be for comments that relate to the original question. Any further opinions on the specifics of the situation should go in the off topic thread.

I know about depression. I'm no stranger to it. What led up to my comment is the unfortunate situation with her boy and her ill cat. That is what I'm speaking of. I really believe you took what I said in the wrong context, Betty Boop. Just because you are depressed does not mean that every bad situation is a form of depression on top of it. Is that making any sense? I'm not sure.

My two penneth on the cat is that it's actually all the little stuff happening around you that takes you over the edge, and I'm not implying that the cat is insignificant here, just that its usually something else away from the big picture that tips you and has people looking at you in amazement at your reaction, it's usually then that you get through the layers to the main problem.

I am not sure of the situation with you and Ryan but i really hope it gets sorted out and i know how hard it must be.
i hope were Ryan has gone/going is (temporary) and that it will help sort things out and show him how much he really needs his mummy,

I am ashamed to say that when I was very young, I had zero patience for those claiming to suffer from depression, or the hosts of many other catch all mental disorders. That was until I was around 33 and bouts of depression began to hit me, for the first time. I can remember, clear as day (25 years ago) describing the feeling to my mom. I told her that I could actually feel it coming. It would wash over me in waves, I was unable to stop it, and it would take me down into a hole. I have experienced it many times throughout my life, and am grateful for the times when I feel ok. I have learned to postphone reacting to statements that seem erratic to me. The reason is because I understand that something as simple as the sound of rain pelting the ground at dusk, can trigger feelings of depression. In actuality, it is something much more painful that is causing the cycle to begin. I would hope to always be very careful in refraining from responding in a way that might hurt anyone, as I have experienced the frightening feeling, a couple of times, of wanting to drive my car into a cement wall.
