FGs administrator is generally really tolerant. A lot of boards delete them shortly after they appear.

Shame they don't here or ast least lock them.

Very very true. Seems a lot of people start threads here but there are other forums where members complain that threads are boring yet never start any themselves. At least things are kept moving here.

another observation is when someone leaves due to another person bothering them, that person leaves as well...as said MANY times before...life continues on..

There is nothing we can individually do to change a board to make it more likable for anyone. All that is accomplished by saying they don't like FG anymore is to make people upset. Nobody can fix it. We can't even rally everyone to fix it. So the point is moot.

Anyone wanting to say "thanks for the good times" can say it in a pleasant way.

Usually PMs are the best way to avoid conflict.

I particularly like the way Hamster dealt with saying goodbye.

I hope she returns too.

I do think that posting them in an area where people can't reply is probably the best route though. Nothing stops anyone from PMing in response.

I always feel it sad when someone does it, it's so final.

And yes, i have to agree, sometimes can be bloody insulting to all left behind.

When i go i shall just fade into the arcade never to be seen again.

I have no opinion on the goodbye threads. What I have not liked are the threads from older members whining about how all the older members are leaving to be replaced by the newer members as that seems a slap in the face to the newer ones.

Having said that I don't appreciate new people coming here and acting like jackasses in what is still essentially to them, "our" home. Sorry you don't make the rules. But you do have to follow them. We donot need to put up with immature insults from people we didn't invite here.

That's how I feel about both sides of the coin.

Neither of these are normal or accepted in the society of FG. As with any society, this might well change over time but for anyone to come in and expect to change the prevailing mores would be rudeness.

No one person or group of people make the rules of a society (subject to the edicts of King Tombstone), the society evolves as the sum of its members, environment and history.

This is a public forum, where people are free to rave on a bit. T his thread already contains a number of different views, all expressed within Tombstone's terms of what is allowable. All good. I'd hate to have anyone feel they are unable to say what they think, even if what they want to present is a soap opera type goodbye, complete with doorslam.. ( or a soap opera hello or ongoing chatter complete with pop music or hyperactive homers). Tastes differ. I'm against censorship.
