I often drop in on Turkey for new year, it's a wonderful way to relax after all the stress of the big day. They really go nuts over there you know, it's the place to be!

If you're a very good boy, Santa might even leave a ticket (or two) for you in a stocking. You have to rummage in the right stocking to find it though. Who said Santa didn't have a sense of humor?

It's also a religious festival which we sacrifice animals. That means kebab. :wah:

What part of Turkey do you come from onsekiz, I didn't realize that Turkish people do some Christmas traditions, as of course most are muslim, though I know that some part of the country have Christian communities in it. I'm and Irish Catholic so we have the whole deal going o here for the next 10 days, its quite tiring actually, all this festivity, but fun. Interesting.

I am sitting here watching a CSI Miami marathon. And I do not even like the show all that well.

I took Trixie out for a run, and now I am just hanging.

Rainy Night in Georgia.. good song.

We even got about seven drops of rain here this afternoon. It's Saturday and getting towards suppertime here.

I'm hoping I get a phonecall before too long saying my kids finally did get through to Vienna. They are such workaholics, and the couple of days they are hoping to have there together over Christmas mean a lot. Fog in English airports, and possibly in Berlin too, where they have a three hour stopover.

Where's my list? ... Oh, no onsekiz, please do not turn my reindeer into kebabs! At least till after Christmas. Or you won't be getting that playstation!

For Galbally - a pink guitar case painted with tasteful green shamrocks

For Pinky - a weekend in Paris with Heath Ledger

For Diuretic - a couple of night's off work to spend in any way he chooses

onsekiz;494410 wrote: Well it's common in many big cities. Some religious muslims don't like it because it's a christian tradition. I live in the 4th big city of Turkey. In new years eve you can see stores with snow decoration, stores selling christmas trees. People dressed like Santa Claus in supermarkets ,attracting children.

Turkey is a very interesting country, consider a (so called) %95 muslim country which you can see transsexuals on tv everyday.

Yes it is interesting, Turkey is a of course a very modern and secular country just like other European countries I guess, I suppose as well for the Turkish people who live on the bridge between the middle east and Europe they get a lot of influences from their religious traditions, their own culture, their European heritage, their history and the all the influences that must have come from being the centre of the ottoman empire, etc etc. The forth biggest eh, so there is Istanbul, Ankara, Ismir, Alexandretta, Izmit, Trabzon. My guess is that you come from Trabzon.

Naughty Galbally, holding my head reindeer to ransom. Think of the poor boys and girls that will cry into their porridge on christmas morning because Santa's sleigh has been sabotaged!

Can we do a deal here? What about if I deliver you Hamster, Snooze and Pinks all wrapped up in multicolored ribbon?
