Bez, I ate tripe when I was a kid..and liked it OK till my dad told me what it was.

I do eat squid though.

Kahlua is a a cream liquer. I am gues the ice cream is flavored with it.

Jut 'Googled' it......coffee cream liquer....scrummy. Never seen it over here, but I guess you could use Tia Maria.

Squid is not for everyone..but I would bet the squid you had was not prepared right. If it is overcooked it will be tough and rubbery.

A rule of thumb, and this seems odd..is to cook it either for a minute, or an hour. For it to taste right.

I've seen tripe for sale in the grocery store. I can't even stand to LOOK at the stuff, much less imagine EATING it!! But, being the blonde that I am... what exactly is it??

I don't personally eat a food, that makes people go ewww, but on the other hand I always go ewww whenever I see my brothers eat anything with Marmite on it. That stuff is the nastiest topping I have ever had the misfortune of tasting! :yh_sick

The one sandwich that makes my lot go 'how could you' is my boxing day special - cold turkey, cold stuffing, cheese and piccalli on brown bread. Yum!



My other half eats cheese and banana sarnies, hogs pudding which makes me retch and expects me to make steak and kidney pie - it's the kidneys that make me feel ill:yh_sick

Had to go and Google "sarnies". One of the hits was how to make the perfect Marmite sandwich..

Marmite is the British version of Vegemite. That vegie base stuff that they spread on bread. Folks there eat vegemite and marmite sandwiches the way we eat Peanut butter. But I am told peanut butter tastes better.

Humph. Marmite, bread, butter - the perfect Marmite sandwich. However, Marmite

also goes well with cheese, as above, and jam (strawberry, raspberry), and on

fruit scones. Lots of things.

I see that there's now Marmite in a squeezy tube. This is an outrage. I bet it'll

Ahem. "Vegemite" is a version of Marmite (not quite so tasty). If you eat Marmite

(or Veggimiyte) "as you would eat peanut butter" then I'm not surprised it

tastes a little "interesting".

OOPS..sorry for the misstep.

As for the comparison to Peanut Butter....I think it is just the popularity of it, rather than a comparison of tastes.

Oh well....I still want to try one of these taste treats once before I croak.

Re. peanut butter - I meant the thickness with which you apply the stuff! Marmite

only needs a thin scrape, no great gobs of it or thick layers....
