Doesn't everyone get piped into dinner? Golly gosh, I learn something new in here every day. Great pics, LC. And Clancy - that's my kinda rock you're sitting on. I'd have my flute and be playing a slow air. Don't you fine Scotsmen start weeping into your haggis - but I actually managed to dance my very first Highland Fling on Saturday. I've only done Irish dancing before and it felt kind of odd to be able to point my toes and move my arms from being glued to my sides.. There were two pipers playing indoors while we all danced too. I may never hear again (but I LOVE the pipes). We were told this is a fertility dance - based on stags in rut. I thought you Scots were above that kind of naughtiness.

Wedding No. 3, with Carrie marrying the ‘stiff in the skirt’ at the chapel of ‘Glenthrist Castle, Perthshire’, was filmed in Surrey at albury park just southeast of guildford, which is open May to September. this is the church i admired, not the one in the industrial area. they made it appear it was in Scotland.

Don't know where you get that idea from. I think you read too much in to things and assume prejudice where none exists. We have a long tradition of taking the mickey out of cultural differences and generally taking the ****-or of you prefer the politer version-taking the mickey.
Next time you decide to make a comment about kilt wearing sheep shagging scotsman living in caves I will probably assume you are taking the mickey, and if it is an attempt at an insult I will probably devote at least two seconds to worrying about it.
I am not going to waste my time worrying about overly sensitive americans who can't tell the difference between having their leg pulled and being deliberately insulted and choose to find offence where none exists.

Well don't be misled, here. Our towns & cities are just like any other place. There are good bits, and dodgy bits.
....but up north, It's gorgeous, and the natives don't bite unless you ask them too
Don't forget the midges. They bite whether you want them to or not.

i'm jealous. i want to live in the midst of such beauty. in my next life i guess. no ugliness, no crime, nobody trying to kill you.
It's a land of contrasts. Scotlnd is one of the most heavily industrialised countries on the planet with industeial syesores you would not believe. If you like indistrrial archeology it's also a great place to visit.

This is the biggest landmark where I live-the spoil from generations of mining for oil shale just piled up in to a mountain big enough to make it a landmark.
The hills up north is lonely and beautiful because all the people got shoved off the land and most scattered across the world. It's beautiful and sad as well.
Keep your eyes open for this one if you go and see the da Vinci code

Personally I think the scaffolding adds a certain something that will no doubt be lacking in the film.

Beautiful pictures Clancy just breathe taking..!!

I have a bit of Scotish blood in me my Grandfather on my dads of the family was from Edinburgh Scotland. Came from a rather large family had 8 brothers I think. Growing up I could hardly understand a word he was saying. My family has always wanted to travel to Scotland, maybe someday... It would be a dream come true..
